41k recent reg convert with some questions

Hi guys,

As the title says I'm a recent rca convert to regular and I have a 41k route. I am trying to learn about my paystub and understand it and there are some things that I can't figure out. I will give some context to the paystub and what my week looks like. We do not have any rcas at my office right now (there are postings) and so I am helping on Sundays. The main thing I am curious about is the evaluated time because on my paystubs, I always have about 8-10 hours of OT from Sundays but the evaluated time is always different every week and it is always the exact same value as if I had subtracted my ot hours from my actual hours in other words no matter the different evaluation hours value it's always actual hours - ot hours = eval hours. So my questions are 1) Is the evaluated time supposed to be different every week? I thought the evaluated time for the route was set at 41 hours for a 5 day week contract 8.2 hours a day and that that was constant for the route and 2) If the evaluated time does change weekly does that mean that if my evaluated time is consistently below 41 hours the route is losing volume? Thanks for the help. Again I am new to the regular life sorry if the question has an obvious answer.

When you converted to regular, you had the option to be hourly until October. Sounds like you weren’t given the option and management went ahead and selected hourly for you.
Thanks for the reply, ok I just read about that in another thread and was going to mention it but did not. Ok that would explain it. Yes mgmt did not provide me with an option.

Between that and the fact that the route is still locked I suppose I will keep doing what I am doing until October. Any advice on getting ahead of the changes that will affect the route in October are appreciated.

It used to be they couldn't get to a new carriers to sigh that form fast enough but now I'm hearing they hide that form because they know now the carrier will hang themselves and run that rt shorter than evaluation so the key is to work your daily evaluation or over 40 to get what your suppose to and then anything over them hours will be ot. It only lasts for a new carrier until the start of the new fiscal year which is in October then your automatically switched over to evaluation. This is a good incentive for our craft because a rt with a new carrier takes time to learn and office work takes more time etc. So they gave us an option of hourly rate for that reason, makes sense but in October you then flip back like the rest of us. It's a shame Management didn't make you aware and other carriers didn't tell you but now that you know I say through Oct hit them in the head and work them hours get you case perfect, paper work perfect, street work perfect. Trust me when I say there is always work to do. I personally always thought it was a great thing I'm glad for you, you didn't sign anything. Happy hours worked!

Ah good to know, yeah it seems like a blessing in disguise! The route had boxes added to it and when I started going in the dpm in January and it was a mess most addresses did not have all four dpm points and there were whole streets where all the dpm points were placed ontop of the mail boxes which are far from the houses. PM did not touch the dpm before he bid the route out there was a street with an old mail box setup that had moved from years ago with the old dpm still there. It was an auxiliary route before I don't for how long I think the cut it off another route in 2016? I am the first regular on it in a while. The rcas never took lunches on it and it was known as the easiest route so everyone would crush it lol! Not good for the new regular...The route does not have much driving less than 20 miles but 80% of the houses have huge 200 - 300ft front yards from the front door to the mail box and the front yards are completely open no fences and all either have a drive in and out driveway or I can drive up the driveway to get to the front door so I am adding a lot of out of route time to get the front door scans and doing all the scans so I will take advantage of the hourly while I can to hopefully build the route up for when it unlocks I think at the end of May or June I forget.
