Annual Leave. RCA (Trying to Understand it)

I started earning annual leave on 2.5 hour aux route. Classification 4.0.  How much do I earn. My first pay stub started at 1.0.    Is 1.0 a day or how many hours? My next stub it went up to 1.17.  I wonder is it means days or hours? How many hours I earn pay period? My route is 16 hours a week. Thanks

Confused RCA

1.0 is 8 hours of annual. 1.17 is a little over 9 hours. Your PM can only pay out annual in hour increments.. and since your route is 2.5 hours you either have three days annual where you get paid three hours... or 4 days annual where you get paid two hours. I believe the rate you earn annual will be 1 hour for every 20 worked.

I've been wondering the same thing. Unfortunately, I don't think I understand jarod1231's explanation? I have 7 something days of AL and the same for SL. My route is 4 hours, so does that mean if I took 2 days of vacation,, it would equal to just 1 of the 7 I've earned? Seems too good to be true.

Yes. If your pay stub shows 7.0 for annual/sick that means you have 56 hours of each.

7 x 8 = 56

If your route is only 4 hours that means you have 14 days of annual and 14 days of sick leave.

Keep in mind it is only this way for RCAs assigned to aux routes that are earning annual, if you're a regular carrier 7.0 means you have 7 days.

Also keep in mind that if you don't use it, it WILL carry over once you make regular.

I never used leave when I was an auxie carrier.  Made all my appts for after route was done.  Carried over quite a chunk when finally entered the Promised Land...

Nope.  Not if you are in a leave earning status with no break in service.  Annual carries over.  It's how I was able to take a nice vacation about 3 months into my status as regular.  :)
