Anyone else hearing about a new 10 day rule?

He was not, however, hired to be abused and treated like a sub human being. Obviously, the regular he referred to is a POS. Not knocking regular carrier as a regular carrier but as a person.

Yes, I'm an RCA, a part time non career employee and when I ask for a Saturday off for a graduation party 4 months in advance, 1st Saturday in 6 years, get denied because regular won't work, you can rest assured I'm taking it off, WEATHER THERE IS ANOTHER PERSON TO COVER ME OR NOT.

No different for a regular. If something is important in your life and you want it off, especially for your children, spouse, ummmmm....dr appointment, let the PM or POOM carry it.

This shouldn't be regulars vs subs, as you stated, and I'm not making it that.

It's all on USPS mismanagement. And their massive egos and huge lack of people skills.

There is no question it is the worst run organization in the United States of America.
Family 1st, its only Mail!

In my case it’s regulars I was given a day off one week. One day int 5 months my son was graduating 4th grade with honors . 95th percentile in the nation in science and math. And the regular came to my house to try and talk me into working that day so he could have another 4 day vacation. And told me my kid wil have many days like this, can’t you skip it and cover for me.
after he just took a 5 day vacation over Memorial Day. After I told him to get the F off my property before it gets bad. He goes to the other subs house and asks him who was already scheduled aux that day among other routes all week. That sub quite that day and left just me for 6 rts. And had the balls to tell me I’m just part time lol
This is an isolated and totally inappropriate situation. I would have called your supervisor ASAP.

I don’t think it is in all honesty. I work a lot of offices around my area every week. Every week I hear of another RCA with the same or similar story. These are the same offices who are constantly loosing RCAs and are always understaffed. yes Management is a huge part of any issues anyone has, but It is sometimes also the co Workers. The mentality some have of this is how I was treated so this is how I treat others is bull. Jut sharing my thoughts and experiences that I have seen and heard from others.

I don't think it is an isolated incident either. I feel stuff like that happens in other offices. As an aux route RCA, I was getting used & abused by like this RCA was. But the regulars weren't no close to this level bad as his story such as visiting and what not, but they did constantly moan and gripe about stuff.

We have great subs in my office who are constantly abused. I tell them about this site, so they can learn their rights.

(The last time I tried to agree to work my k day for my sub, management wanted to work me, with no extra compensation, and force him in on another route. He wanted a week off to take an out of town vacation. He got his vacation, but we had enough lead time to fight their actions.)

Regs like you and many others on this site are exactly why I personally am still around. So thank you for caring about your subs.

It's not isolated. Rcas in my office are sent to many other offices without advance notice to carry city routes, rural routes and to clerk. They wait until they arrive to work to tell them they have to work elsewhere. Sabotage at its finest.
I have noticed some of the worst offenders in abuse by regular carrier are newer career regulars. It's like they want to punish the rcas that didn't make regular. I had an rca stalk me. There's enough crazy to go around.
There's an old joke, " how do you tell the difference between a psychiatric ward and a post office? One sells stamps, the other uses them for arts."

The psych ward patients usually are confined at night and we get to go home to our families. They wear white coats to prevent injuries by themselves and others, we can wear shorts and a tee shirt.

The regulars in our offices treat the RCA's with the respect they've earned, same as other way around. We help each other, try to work days off for subs when they really need them. Peer pressure in our offices keeps it that way. Everyone is a human. Any chronic offenders get the point quickly. We work together. Minimizes unscheduled sick calls and makes things run much more fluidly among regs and subs.

Ummm. You may want to look at where you work. You were literally hired to cover a regular. Not the other way around. When you become a regular, you’re going to see how valuable a leave replacement is. You can’t take leave without them. You think as an RCA, you can take leave without another sub to cover you? Treat RCAs good and you’ll retain them. The regulars aren’t sitting there mandating RCAs. Management is. It’s not the regulars against the RCAs, it’s management that is in charge of the RCAs that mismanage them and abuse them.

You need to read closer.

The Post Office giveth and the Post Office taketh away. I got word today that the POOM has over ruled the 10 day rule. I am exploring my options on how I can get 2 days off during the week, since she is trying to force me to work Amazon Sunday in Binghamton. Resignation is on the table, and that really sucks. I like this job, but this no day off tyranny is something I'm not going to tolerate.

I'm so old school I believe in hand shake contracts. This employer is abusive, plain and simple.

Crazy crap on a cracker.

She really think this is going to help?

If one is incompetent, they can be in USPS Management and advance quickly.!

I'm not working Sundays under any circumstances.

Start filling out leave slips one day a week. Fill one out for every week for the next 4 months then every week fill out another. Only thing keeping me alive atm personally.

It's strange for me to hear subs working 30 days straight when in our office they won't allow any rca to work over 40 hours no matter what. They even have to get approval to help in another office so they won't go over their 40 hours. Most of them have to stay off. We had rcas at home yesterday with 3 rts down. So I feel they should be thankful to get the work our subs would love it.

I would rather work 4-5 days then 7-13 without having to put a stupid slip in once a week to get a day off. Yes money is good but I would much rather have quality time with family over it any day.

If single and no kids I would most likely feel different. I also have a second job to work while that is a choice of mine. I have to have it just in case it ever goes back to what it was the first year I worked. the hours at second job I control myself, but I still have to keep my customers happy or they will find another to do the work.

Poor management through and through.
