Coachman -- "Hi I’m a new Arc at the same post office I’ve been working in for 13 yrs . I was an RCA for 13 yrs with an aux route. As I got older I gave it up it got to much to much to do 2 to 3 routes a day when people were out . I still carry routes and help case mail and help on Hcr route. But now it’s my choice whether I want to do it or not I can say yes or no because I’m just an assistant."
-- If you want the hours and pay, keep saying "yes". Make yourself a highly valuable member of the rural work force.
-- However - comma - some RCA sitting at home could file a grievance for the work you have done as manglement seems to be giving you a lot more work than was intended for an ARC.
-- From Step ( A-130 )
- The ARC was specifically created to support package delivery on Sundays and holidays. In addition, ARCs may case and carry routes on Saturday under certain conditions; and may also provide auxiliary assistance to regular and auxiliary routes on Saturday.
-- From Step ( A-131 )'s Q&A on the ACR Implementation Guidelines -# 20.
- The primary purpose of an ARC is to provide package delivery on Sundays and federal holidays. They may also be assigned in the installation on a Saturday to case and carry routes provided all available leave replacements are working. Additionally, the ARC may be utilized to provide auxiliary assistance or package delivery on Saturday.
-- From MOU #13
- The parties agree that an assistant rural carrier ( ARC ) will be a non-career, bargaining-unit employee with limited contractual benefits, performing service on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays consistent with current practice, or parcel delivery on any day of the week.
