For the most part, I think most agree, USPS is a miserable place to work for many reasons... I mean, just look at the quit rate for RCAs... there's something wrong with that picture...I have empathy for anyone struggling with conflict or other life issues. However, taking your life or taking the lives of others is clearly an indication of problems beyond just a work place dispute.
As a regular rural carrier, it’s definitely not miserable for me. No way, no howFor the most part, I think most agree, USPS is a miserable place to work for many reasons... I mean, just look at the quit rate for RCAs... there's something wrong with that picture...![]()

A miserable place to work? My goodness cut the hyperbole just a bit. There are over 30k post offices around the country and each with their own environment. We employ over 600k people and just by those numbers alone… man I doubt that many people and places would stay if it always fostered complete misery. I know the issues at and with our job, we discuss them all the time here, but I know every job has them unless you’re the boss and maybe the worst part of your day is arguing over where to play golf. For the most part, I think most agree, USPS is a miserable place to work for many reasons... When suicides quadruple... some might consider that a reason for concern... some may consider it hyperbole... matter of opinion, I suppose...A miserable place to work? LOL... sure you don't wanna listen to ole DB, who worked for USPS for 25 years... what about this guy, he worked for USPS for over 30 years...A miserable place to work? If it's so great, I wonder why there are such shortages of RCAs and such... you would think peeps would be breaking down the doors for such a great working environment... right???A miserable place to work? I'm curious when I hear comments like yours... how long have you worked for the good ole USPS????A miserable place to work? My goodness cut the hyperbole just a bit. I'm going to guess they work in a non-amazon office. I dread going to work days after holidays, Mondays, etc. Only had about 1600 packages on Tuesday this week in a 7 route office and they delivered both Sunday and Monday.I'm curious when I hear comments like yours... how long have you worked for the good ole USPS????![]()
I remember before Amazon when I was done early every day, and it wasn't bad... RRECS came along and slammed everybody's eval, THEN they rolled in Amazon... I do understand some are in places that are not all that bad, but overall, it seems there is more bad than good... and this is supported by employee surveys and so forth... it's not just my opinion on it...I'm going to guess they work in a non-amazon office. I dread going to work days after holidays, Mondays, etc. Only had about 1600 packages on Tuesday this week in a 7 route office and they delivered both Sunday and Monday.
I had over 300 all by myself on tuesday, every monday now is equal to a day after a holiday,I'm going to guess they work in a non-amazon office. I walked in the door as an RCR in December of 1987. After roughly 2 years as an RCR I was converted to RCA and I transferred to a neighboring office. DPS was implemented during my time as an RCA so I had to endure additional time as an RCA until enough office time had accumulated to absorb the impact of DPS. I finally made regular in May of 1994. I served about 7 years on my initial route before bidding and winning my current route which I continue to serve today. I served as Shop Steward for 2 years in the late 90’s. While I’m beyond eligible for full retirement already, I’m currently planning on staying until age 67. I’m currently a 45H and I’ve got no problem being an H.I'm curious when I hear comments like yours... how long have you worked for the good ole USPS????![]()
I've seen it both ways, peeps creating their own problems, and those just trying to do their jobs getting dinked with... all in all you didn't have to wait too long to make Reg, I personally know some that were RCA's for over 20 years, and I did about 12 myself... so, there are quite a few things that vary from location to location... if you're happy, I'm happy for you... many get dinked around thru no fault of their own, and I've seen it... all these employees surveys and reports of harassment, murder and suicides are real... if you're somehow lucky enuf to avoid it all over a long career, count yourself lucky, imo...I walked in the door as an RCR in December of 1987. I see a lot of cry babies making their own problems. I won’t go into details but its quite pathetic in my opinion
So, does the USPS have 600 thousand whiners working for them??? Gallup rated job satisfaction at USPS lower than workers that clean the sewage pipes under NYC and Chicago... here's a guy who has a Ph.D. and worked for the USPS for 30 years, and here's what he thought.... maybe he's just a whiner too... wth...One of the biggest problems I see that is caused by the people who complain all the time is this. Instead of focusing on exactly what their own responsibility is, they are constantly looking at other people and comparing themselves to them. Then they fabricate ideas about how someone is getting something that they aren’t. It’s a big waste of time.
