Documentary about USPS

Post 16; "I see a lot of cry babies making their own problems. I won’t go into details but its quite pathetic in my opinion."

Agree totally!
I can respect individual opinions, and that conditions vary from one place to another.... however, I think it's foolish and short-sighted to ignore glaring indications of workplace environment problems throughout the USPS... why did Gallup rate USPS so poorly after being paid $$$$ millions of dollars to survey USPS workers???? Why is there so much violence, murders, suicides, grievances, etc., etc... not what I'd describe as a wholesome and great working environment... jmho... I personally can't attribute all of the problems to it just being a bunch of whiny crybabies...🤷‍♂️👉🧐

As a regular rural carrier, it’s definitely not miserable for me. No way, no how
I'm sort of curious as to your intent for even starting this thread... the video isn't about how the USPS is a great place to work, but yet you post the video, and then argue against what it is saying... seems a bit puzzling to me... did you actually watch the video???🤷‍♂️👉🧐

I haven't watched the video yet but I have read the comments. Sure, there are plenty of good routes out there and small offices with nice people, etc. And there are those with very nice routes and good managers. However, the numbers don't lie. Moral is very low in the USPS overall. There IS a big problem with retention and burnout.

There are far too many inequalities in the ranks. Table 1/2 stuff, people with heavily overburdened routes, routes with 300+ packages a day. It's hard for many people to look around and not feel like they are getting banged hard every day while others are working less for better pay, etc. It's human nature.

I worked over 40 years of my life in the military, the private sector and then the USPS. Although I immensely enjoyed my early years with the USPS, I saw it deteriorate into a system that I wanted no more part in. It truly is the worst place I ever worked. Bar none. I have seen people who used to bounce in to work happy and well-compensated for years slowly turn into miserable people. These people didn't just decide one day to become 'whiners.'

I totally agree. I have worked much more stress inducing jobs and been happier. Perhaps it is the absolute lack of hope in most employees. Which stems from the worst mgmt leadership I've ever encountered over similar working history.

try having to fight for EVERY day off. working six days a week, on a k route, because they cant hire anyone. Having enough sick/vacation/x days to take six months off, but having to call the poom to get an extra day off for my fathers funeral. Putting in for leave 3 months in advance, and having to fight to get that leave because pm gave the day away to a different carrier. Constantly being badgered over little mistakes, then watching as other carriers get away scot free for doing the same things. Having your start time moved back, because pm knows you have some things that need done, but doesnt want to allow you to have a life. All these things have happened to me over a five year period. If there were any jobs I could get that would pay close to what I make, i would have been gone. Several former usps employees have tried to file harassment charges, they go nowhere. Some were even clerks.

For the most part, I think most agree, USPS is a miserable place to work for many reasons... I mean, just look at the quit rate for RCAs... there's something wrong with that picture... 🤷‍♂️👉👎💩
Mostly. But really depends on where you are and who's in charge. I'm in an awesome situation now, but have spent most of my career in conflict with management, harassment of all etc -- you know, the usual.

THIS ^^^^^^^^^^

I am in 1 route office.

Not so much those issues but getting people to work my X days after pushing 18 months without a sub.

Constantly getting those people pulled back all the time. Having one trying to not work route on day sister was getting married. I just about went bananas. I was just like you can't just I'm not working anymore. I need off. I mean when I take off a weekend, IT IS BECAUSE I NEED IT OFF LEGIT!! Not just :poop: :poop: :poop: :poop: and giggles I want my day off.

It's just crazy how much people won't work elsewhere yet I have my route so easy a caveman could do it. Just needs his own POV

I watched it from beginning to end, twice. I thought it was a basically fair presentation considering it was mostly focusing on one side of the story. Im sure we’ll never the other side.

I did not argue against what the video says. I simply stated that my experiences working for the USPS have been mostly positive. But I will say again, in watching the same people acting like cry babies over and over and over again, to me that suggests theres something wrong with them personally. Constantly arguing over things which they have no control while ignoring to do things which are in their control that might improve their situation. Pretty sad in my opinion.

It’s all good DB you don’t like the job you did for 25 plus years and that’s fine. I’m on the second table as well as got to be an RCA in 2015 for 3.5 years. I was able to get the dreaded Amazon drop as soon as I started the gig. I got to work 40 plus days in a row due to staff shortages multiples times and over burdened routes to deal with because we don’t have a count until 2018. I was able to still do that and balance having my daughter in 2016 and family life during this grueling time.
However, it’s what I signed up for and I’m able to adapt because that little girl meant I better get my stuff together and make sure she has all she needs.
I feel bad for those who can’t handle change and have stresses beyond reasonable that the job pushes them over the edge. I’m not here to score points with you, but you sure like to do that. Spar with the others because I was only leaving my two cents. Thanks for your service buddy.

I'm going to guess they work in a non-amazon office. I dread going to work days after holidays, Mondays, etc. Only had about 1600 packages on Tuesday this week in a 7 route office and they delivered both Sunday and Monday.
No I work in the North range of Colorado where people are moving to in droves and all enjoy their Amazon.

I think the liberal lean of allowing people to emote, everywhere, was a mistake. That's all they focus on is feelings.

I can’t say I’ve never had struggles with people in my 38 years and counting at the post office. In my case the struggles were at least 2 to 1 craft employees over management

…. I should also mention that some of the problems I had with people were at least partially my fault. When you recognize your own faults, you learn things. Feeling at fault doesn’t feel good. So you change if you can. I guess not everyone gets that.

You can say Gallup is full of $#!+:poop: in what they get paid $$$$ millions of dollars to do... you can say the Ph.D. guy that worked for the USPS for over 30 years is full of $#!+:poop:... or anybody else who has reported that many places within the USPS is full of toxic work environments... you can tell that to all the family members of former USPS employees that are now dead due to suicides or murders that occurred while working at USPS... whatever floats your boat... I'm just telling you it's no big secret that USPS is notorious for having MANY toxic work environments... I'm somewhat surprised that I'm the 1st person that has pointed this out to you... I really never thought it was all that big of a secret... who knew??? I'm glad you've never experienced any of this, and I hope by the time you have worked for USPS for 25 years or so, as I have, you can look back and say, how that was a really great career, and I have no regrets about staying at USPS for all of those years... good luck with all of that, as I think you may need it... maybe you think this is all "hyperbole", right???? LOL...🤷‍♂️👉💩:ROFLMAO:

I didn’t say Gallup or some Phd was full of anything. I simply didn’t waste my time on a 69% accuracy polling outfit to get my views verified. All jobs have their poo. You aren’t the first person to point out anything to me, you assume a lot. Not sure what you’re trying to convince me of here exactly. Something about a buzz work hyperbole.

Maybe old timers should admit that the conditions many of us faced or face are much different from what many RCAs nowadays face... you and I sitting at the top pay of Table 1, racking up a day of AL every pay period, and a day of SL every other pay period... with EMA I made well over $100k all of my final years... and in the end, it wasn't worth it to me to keep on keeping on... but it all comes down to what your values are and what is most important to you... if things were really great for ALL employees at USPS we wouldn't be seeing such shortages in RCAs in many places... to deny this, is to deny reality... also, imo, to disregard all of the evidence about toxic work environments at the USPS, is also denying reality... the employee surveys, the suicides, the murders, the harassment, the grievances, etc., etc... this is bigger than just a bunch of crybabies, or just ole DB's opinion... at least that's how I see it...🤷‍♂️👉🧐

You were the one who jumped in and asked me to cut the "hyperbole", right???? That's when I provided you the evidence from others that showed it was not just some made-up "hyperbole" on my part.... you can disregard it all, and think nobody knows anything but you, if that's what you believe... I try to keep my mind open to what others think, but that's not something you have to do, I suppose...🤷‍♂️👉
A miserable place to work? My goodness cut the hyperbole just a bit..,.
