Drivers training pay

How should I get paid when they send me down for drivers training on these new vehicles? I know I get paid for the miles to drive there. Regular carrier

It’s 20 miles from my office and they said it will take 4.5 hours for the training.
They said that I have to complete my route when I get back. They said they have a sub to do just part of it to help out.
Just curious cause someone from the other office said they covered the entire route for them and they got paid for the day when they went for training…

Article 10 of The Nat'l Agreement has this ;

J. Training Presentations

When a rural carrier (Designation 71) is required to view
training films, slides or other training presentations which are
not incidental to normal daily performance, and has not been
provided an equivalent amount of auxiliary assistance, the
carrier will be compensated based on the actual time required
multiplied by the carrier’s straight time rate (Article 8.3.A.).
In those instances when training is received in full-day incre-
ments, the carrier will receive compensation for the full day(s)
at the daily evaluated rate of the assigned route.
All other rural carriers (Designations 73, 75, 76, and 78) will be
compensated based on actual time used for training multi-
plied by their individual computed hourly rate.

And while NOT stating "how" to be compensated, Article 30 has this ;

M. Driver Certification

When an employee in the rural carrier craft is required to be
absent from duty to receive Vehicle Familiarization and Safe
Operation Certification, the carrier shall be in a pay status and
shall not be charged with leave for the day

You should also receive mileage pay for any miles over your normal commute.
Example: It is 5 miles to the post office where you work and 20 miles to the training site. You should be paid for 30 miles, 15 each way.

Ok so…
1) mileage over the distance traveled to the post office
2) If sent for 5 hours of training and route is evaluated at 8 you should receive 5 hours of assistance.
So what if you have a 8 hour route and they only provide 1-2 hours of assistants? Are you paid anything that you work over your 8 hour evaluation between training and finishing your route?
