I'm not aware of a step 4 floating around. I do have a copy of a non-citeable from '96, but that's all I've got rattling about. You can still be mandated to do it, but you're supposed to be compensated if you are... Oddly the only way to get paid for it.

Was pretty sure there was contractual language somewhere stating it wasn't required, nevermind the little slips specifically stating NALC on them...

I am not volunteering and verified that it is optional with OIC. After the massive route cuts they dont get any free work or PR from me.

- It is the position of the Postal Service that participation in the NALC National Food Drive is strictly voluntarily.
-- Unfortunately, the Step 4 is one of those "nonciteable" ones.
-- However, if you can access behind the NRLCA home page, the April 2017 edition of the national magazine had an article under "NEWS BRIEFS" which noted in part:
- As always, participation in the drive is strictly voluntarily. All rural carriers have a right not to participate unless given a direct order. If required to participate involuntarily, manglement must compensate the carrier in some way.
-- From President Dwyer's letter of March 14, 2014: in part:
- If the rural carrier assigned to the route on the day designated for the food drive does not volunteer to participate and there are no other volunteers available to pick up food on the rural route, the promotional mailing should not be delivered.
-- Good luck.

I delivered postcards last Friday, everyone else did it Saturday. collecting items Saturday coming up.

It’s pick up only honestly. Handling it will be on EoS time. I also firmly believe any scans done within geofencing of PO don’t get any credit IMO.
