I was a 44K, on the RDWL, worked as many Saturdays as I could, made that money. Built the route to a 48K through scans, on the RDWL, worked as many Saturdays as I could, made that money. Didn't want to get cut, brought the route to a 43K through scans, on the RDWL, worked as many Saturdays as I could, made that money. Now I came back a 42K/46J, opted for the J, on the RDWL, will work as many Saturdays as I can, gonna make that money. I'm still adjusting my scanning technique, for the six months after the 48K I had the sub doing zeros on every authorized dismount and I myself had cut back on that scan as well as some door deliveries. I went extreme because I was getting divorced and had to sink my 100K salary.
Moral of the story, try and control your route through scans (while we still can), not mail volume. Make sure your mapping and footage is 100%, and remember, TO THE DOOR. If you have a light parcel volume day, take most of it to the door. Working every Saturday on your route is different than when you were a sub. Its your route, take the time to befriend your customers. A nice little chat with Tom at 123 Fake Street may be the formula to get you through your day and relieve the stress. My customers are the only bright spot in my 20+ year career, oh, and the money I guess
