I need a Mentor?

If you've been put on 51 different routes in less than a year, and you haven't quit, your regulars are right. YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB!

It's impossible to have any consistency when you're bounced around like that. No wonder you're so unsure of yourself. Your suspicions are correct. Your bosses are taking advantage of you. You get up to a 30 minute lunch, to be used in whatever increments you choose. There is no such thing as an "extended lunch." Just try taking one on your own, and see what your supervisor has to say about it!

You should be listed as the primary sub on one route, and that's the one you should be doing every time that regular carrier is off. You should also have a second and third route assigned to you. Read up in the knowledge base here about the matrix, and how it is to be used. I'm assuming your office is extremely sub short considering how you're being scheduled. You can be utilized on any route that needs coverage, but your bosses should be following the matrix, and your primary route comes first. Something tells me if you say the word "matrix" to your PM, you'll get a blank stare followed by an "oh sh!t" expression when he/she realizes you are informed. If you can get just this one thing corrected, I think your working life will improve significantly. Then you can move on to dealing with the other crap that's going on. Good luck to you.

They are stealing from you. It's blatant theft.
Listen to @Oi veh. You have a time limit to file.
The clock starts ticking on the 14 days when you learn you were wronged.
Let us know if the steward helps you or not.

So I need to file a grievance with the union on Monday? I haven't kept track of the other times I have broken down, but from now on I am keeping a journal. Thank you for the advice!!

i would advise keeping a small notepad with questions that you have, and post them here. ask for references in the replies, so you can be prepared to dispute whatever management tries to force on you. some very knowledgeable people here that know all the rules, references, settled grievances, and guidelines. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.....

Yes I will. I have free recieved a great amount of knowledge already.. Just wonderful this site is.. So much to learn..

Another thing, check to make certain you were compensated for first day worked on any route if you exceeded evaluation. Calendar resets every 12 months. Ex: if you work rt 09 today for the first time you are entitled to actual time if you exceed the evaluation. If you don't work it again until next may 9, 2021, it retriggers.

Oh. Great.. all of them say extended lunch in the comments on the white sheet.. I will get on this Monday..
Start notating why you extended lunch: waiting for truck, waiting for breakdown, scanner failure, etc. if it's USPS equipment or vehicles that prevented you from a forward progression of your day- that is payable.
If you continue to write down simple extended lunch, that means you chose to extend your lunch. Help a steward with your documentation of your day.

If it doesn't say vehicle broke down, will that affect the grievance??

get burned once and learn from it...I never went back and filed grievances from past things.. it wasn't worth the aggravation unless you are due a lot of money... I would just advise your supervisor that you will no longer take extended lunches when your llv breaks down because its going to, many many more times, and he is to pay you for waiting...ask him if he knows this..see what he says. find the paper work to back yourself up... give him a copy.........in my career ( only 5 months left) I always watched what I asked for, sometimes I let things slide and other times I held their feet to the fire... it's a big game you have to play get to know the rules...

When you do breakdown write breakdown and minutes in the comments section highlight it, tell mgmt that you did this ask how will you get paid..they will tell you they can only pay 1hr a week this is untrue NEVER accept this answer,,,,,,when you get your paycheck and it is not on there then file a grievance immediately.

Wise advice

Just to reiterate what gotrope said: the first time you work a different route you should be paid hourly or evaluation, whichever is greater. With 51 different routes in less than a year, that might also be a large chunk of change. I don't imagine you beat eval too often the first time you did a route and I wouldn't be suprised if your manager conveniently put down the evaluated time

I am learning to pick my battles as well.. management is quick to retaliate..
