Is there a forced 50 mile rule for RCAs or not?

Still think the easiest thing is talk to all the PMs get it in writing you will be paid drive time and ema for driving to and from your hone office. Once I did that it’s once a month I get scheduled for other offices instead of once or more a week.

You gotta think outside the box.

Clerks and City carriers can bid anywhere. They aren't limited to home office. They also are required to work anywhere.

Are the wheels turning yet?

If you are required under other unions rules, then bidding should apply. Therefore a grievance should be filed that if you are forced/required to work another station unassigned to you. Then you are entitled to bid on any open route within that office including PTF. And I'd go further, any station you COULD be required to work at.

Let the union figure that one out.

They can't borrow in to prevent someone who is available from working their K day.

Or was leave approved when no rca was available. Thus forcing you in?

We're clerks or management utilized to carry the route?

And lastly, don't be attractive. You want the reputation that PMs say they'll never borrow that guy again!

This really sucks. I have an issue I'm working on. And I can see the union taking the same stance. Even when the language couldn't be more clear.

Here is a funny detail I've noticed before I drop the kaboom. What do you check on the green card if you are working an office outside your assigned office?

LOAN.

They can't force RCA's outside of their assigned office, period. You can get loaned to another office if YOU choose to. Period.

Whatever happened to RCA only being forced to another station when covering a relief(not on overtime)day? I thought this was in the recent contract. I also believe this will be a bigger part of our contract where RCA's will receive earned leave for going to other stations. I don't foresee getting paid holidays because they rely on our RCAs too much for package delivery on holidays.

In some very Rca sort areas the Usps is paying 150% for All hours worked and per diem for RCA volunteers to work in those areas. File and ask for that, there should be a precedent setting grievance nationally by now for this situation.

Not here or Binghamton.

I'd be interested in this case.

Nope, not in the Contract nor do I see it ever being there. You might be thinking of the allowing of borrowing an RCA from another office prior to using non-RDWL Carriers. That is only an option for mgmt & not a requirement. There is nothing that I know of that states mgmt can only send “volunteers”. If mgmt says you go to a nearby office when you are not needed in your assigned office, then you go.

I don’t see either of these happening.

Good luck with that. You are trying to cling to a failed system to benefit yourself instead of helping to fix the failed system.

@Mark Oliver have you heard of 150% every hour anyplace in our neck of the woods.

That only works once. Once mgmt has had a Discussion on ”not following orders”, attendance, etc. then that part of the Disciplinary track is complete.

Be careful when deciding to not follow orders because the tone of voice can be taken as hostile which could put a Carrier in an E.P. situation. I’ve seen too many Subs end up on EP because of their ”standing up to mgmt” & then they are out for a week or 2 without pay. They then have to file to get either reinstated and/or paid for that time. Although those cases are typically won & paid (month or more later), the sub still had to go without that pay for that time & wasn’t prepared to be without $$$$ to pay bills or buy groceries. Just saying to be cautious cause tempers tend to fly on both sides when refusing to work.

There are hardly any of us left. These old games don't work anymore. Sure, they could still play them, to make an example out of someone, but who is going to fill our shoes? How is hiring going?

Doesn’t benefit me at all. We have subs here & we are always hiring more in. Sub years are 2-4 years until Career (PTF & Reg). PTFs go Regular in 6 months to 2 years. We are ratio at 1 sub to every 3 routes with over 60 routes currently. In my area, my subs don’t mind helping other offices if they can get more hours.

Hiring is just fine here, BTW.

I'm glad you mentioned PTF because I know that is where the RCA abuse is rooted in. RCA's, in general, are not Designation 76. Management keeps trying to put RCA's, who are Designation 78 or Designation 79, into the box of PTF Rural carriers, Designation 76.

Read Article 7. Compare 76, 78 and 79 classifications. Which classification has "as directed by management" in their definition? 76.

The contract says this, exactly:

Part-time Flexible Rural Carriers (Designation Code 76)

Part-time flexible rural carriers are those substitutes or rural carrier associates appointed following an assignment posting. These employees provide service on regular and auxiliary routes as directed by management.

I'm not a 76 and neither are most of my brethren. Management can pound salt directing me to go anywhere outside my assigned office, unless I volunteer. Do we have a side letter? Some kind of MOU that changes the plain language of the contract? They can pound salt.

Just settled and got 300% for being forced sundays. Drive time to and from paid and ema rate for mileage. With progressive penalty 250 to start doubles every time after. waiting on normal work days to settle that is also 300% if forced plus other parts.

done Being nice either pay up or out the door I go.

Where in the contract does it say RCA's can not be loaned to other offices?
