Just in

I work in a small 6 route rural office. So take this with a grain of salt. Ystrdy our pm who used to be a carrier said that upper management is talking about a count. Says that the big deal is that management is attempting to move the Sept count to February. If so, can our union veto this because rrecs hasn't been implemented? I understand that the po can unilaterally call for a Sept count without nrlca approval. Can they do the same in Feb? Not looking forward to a Feb count.

I posted on a different topic that the NRLCA negotiated away our right for any re-evaluation during the new contract, unless they, the NRLCA cave and make some sort of deal to get re-evaluations (used to be called mail counts) I was thinking of them specifically caving on time standards, but, yes, the NRLCA having to cave on when mail counts would be held, just to get a re-evaluation during this new contract proposal, is consistent with the language of the new contract.

Article 9.2.C.3.a.1 and 2. Mail Counts

  • Parties agree to discuss interim method for evaluating routes in lieu of national mail counts
Those who say they just only agreed to "discuss" are correct. But the NRLCA gave away all leverage they had and will have to cave on something if we are to have any type of re-evaluation during this contract ***UNLESS*** the re-evaluation clearly benefits the USPS, then the USPS will call for them in September or honestly anytime they damn well please, what are you going to do about it anyway?

i think something the union might want to consider is to look at dissolving aux routes that were formed by huge parcel numbers during recent counts especially if routes lose several hours with the implementation of reccs. keeping a large number of substandard h routes won't benefit the carriers in any way, that i can think of. will we be back to route consolidations every time there is a retirement? i see no way that all routes will not lose time, if the numbers remain steady.

Remember when everyone thought RRECS would have to benefit all of us since we "Would finally get paid for what we do all year"

Has everyone resigned themselves to the fact that "getting paid for all we do" will never happen under any variety of an Evaluated System

I still challenge anyone who thinks numbers are down to compare what you had this week, to what you had during the February 2018 Mail Count weekly average. When my PM says numbers are down, I ask, "Compared to the last Mail Count, NOT LIKELY"

The NRLCA has given in so much that this craft is hurting bad. I'm tired of these open ended contracts that allow us to keep getting trampled on. The dread of going to this workplace pit is getting intolerable. The tyrants keep skewing the numbers to make themselves look good while we keep licking our wounds. This party stinks to high heaven and we all have gotten so use to the stench that no one notices anymore.

It reminds me of that cat litter commercial where they say the cat owners have become nose blind to it and do t notice. hahaha. Considering the usps is a giant catbox full of turds it’s no wonder the craft sheep dont even notice anymore just exactly how bad it is.

I've seen an Amazon runner out there delivering parcels. I still deliver considerably more (40-60%) parcels than I had during my last count. They have delivered a few big ones, but I had huge parcels all week, and full coverage box holders daily, with one more tomorrow.

It's too bad our national officers don't work as hard as we do.

Correction, had two full coverage items, flats, one addressed!
My DPS has been stuffed will all kinds of full coverage stuff all week also.

Hmmm....

It's like they're cleaning out the plant before a count!
Bit of an early start on the clean out... count wouldn't be until the last 12 working days of September... but, hard to tell...

If Rural craft input/participation was actually present in the task analysis and associated time credits, I'm just not seeing it. Being test subjects was our only contribution.

I'm reading from many here of a conviction that they will lose anywhere from 3 to an unimaginable 6 hours. A 10 to 20% pay cut without the bad press of calling it one, and all under the guise of a pay correction supported by "science."

At the end of the day, if bloodbath realized, how is this really any different than the PO conducting a unilateral clandestine study during contract years, and with results and accredited engineers in tow, drop it on an impressionable arbitrator for consideration? Far-fetched, but you can bet they are taking full advantage of what they've been itching to do for a long time.

Here is my POV.... Personal Point of View after seeing the new edition of NRLCA Mag this very day..... I spend 6 12 hrs driving today delivering the Magazine trying to get glimpses of what is in it (don't say you don't do it, I know you do) until I could get home and read it for myself..... and my take? The ONLY pics ever in it it is conventions, people partying.... do they NOT realize they are perpetuating the image that they are completely out of touch with our craft? doesn't it? Here is an MOU for you, once each week EVERY PM goes out on the RURAL routes all over this country and takes a photo of REAL rural carriers actually doing the jobs they do DAILY and put that in the Magazines????

Geez....A mail count would be great here. Would add a bunch of new routes with all of this new construction! AND MAYBE, just maybe after 11 years of part time, I may just get a full time gig! I don't care if it is a huge K or a small H...... just give me a dang route for crying out loud! SMH

A contract is to have specifics....not agreements to discuss... sold out again by incompetent union slobs.
