No study here, but the only pkgs that aren't attempted at the door (that won't fit into mailbox/lockers) are the houses more than 1/2 mile from route, 'loose dogs' homes, AND the apt complexes. The complexes in our area use the existing notification procedures per the rules for multi-tenant buildings EXCEPT for the one complex. I think there was a security issue or something similar in their office.
I'm just glad I don't have to deal with that BS. I have one bank building that is real PAIN to climb those stairs at 4-5 pm after already being exhausted from the 'stop & hops' and trip-after-trip loading my collections after delivering 100-150 pkgs beforehand. I do my job within a few hours of my eval (up & down) & I try to follow the rules to the best of my ability. We have carriers that get back super-early by taking shortcuts and then there are a few of us that don't. I don't since we never know when/if mgmt is watching.
