Limit on number of hours RCA can work in pay period?

You are most definitely allowed to work at other post offices if you are not scheduled at your primary office. They are correct
One reason, maybe not your PM's, that managers don't want their subs working other offices is that when that sub exceeds 40 hours and goes overtime, the home office pays the OT regardless of where the work is done. It's tied to the home office finance number.

When I was an RCA, I had a PM that would cost me opportunities to work because of that! When other PM's would call my PM to see if I was available, he would say no (I wasn't working & he didn't ask me if I was willing to work). I had to instruct other PM's to call me directly to overcome this!

Common practice among offices proximate to ours today. Outside our offices, we rarely will get assistance, no matter how much needed, due to the overtime being paid by the RCA home office, no matter where the OT is actually worked.

-- Probably another reason PMs don't want their subs working in other offices is that the sub may find a much nicer place to work and transfer there!

I have the opposite issue, Other offices would call me before calling home office to have me work. only to find out home office changed schedule last minute and now I was scheduled when I had the day off.
