MMS letters and flats are way down.

Here flats are down, but letters are not.

Luckily, the MMS is only 6% or so of our evaluation.

Im mostly concerned about what happens when the overlords at district hit compute and spit out our new evaluation.

We just had a carrier blindsided by an hour loss mid count from the new MOU or whatever the NRLCA agreed to about mapping/edit books.

yes, ours has been awful too.

i wish ppl would back off the 6% nonsense.

it only takes a few seconds for an evaluation to go down (or up, if you are a pollyanna).

6% of $45,000 is $2700. $225 a month. that's a week's worth of groceries for a family of 4.

and that's the way the union needs to think, not "only 6%".
Agreed! Our carriers do not take it seriously. 6% of data collected isn't the same as 6% time. Every letter tallied during MMS adds up. With evaluated (flat rate) pay that can multiply over pay period to be a substantial sum as you illustrated.

Initially our DPS was great since they must have cleaned the machines. Now its back to normal and we are getting quite a bit to count. Combine that with our clerks who can't be bothered to learn the sort scheme and we are making out pretty good.

Exactly!

1 min can be the difference between roughly extra 2200 bucks a year or not. People don't understand that every little thing matters. Just like RCA not putting in the correct inputs. RCA loading in 2 mins. EoS 2 mins.

Know what else would make a difference?!??! Releasing all of the numbers for RRECS and not just 3 pages of sheet with numbers that EASILY CAN BE MANIPULATED!

If you’re talking about the “Grow as you go” where your evaluation can change monthly, that’s Contract that has finally been implemented. See Article 9.2.C.10
Prior to RRECS, Carriers had to have 60 minutes of “Banktime” before the Eval would change & it would reset at every Mailcount. It was frustrating to be sitting within a few minutes of the next hour & have to wait for 1 hour of Banktime to advance. Even more frustrating was when you were a few minutes inside of an hour & needed over an hour to change eval.
The only plus with the Banktime requirement was you didn’t lose eval until 60 minutes was Banked.

Both systems have their Pros & Cons.

So we had this happen on Monday, as usual each route got a bucket of precounted flats. However, included in the bucket was full coverage addressed letter sized flyers tossed loosely in the buckets. The radar report showed they had not been counted. Not counted as raw mail, not counted as flats. What to do, what to do?

Mine has seemed pretty bad this time also. I'm getting tons of bundled flats. IK these are counted all year, but I hardly get any bundled flats, they always come in unbundled, oddly. My DPS is neat as it's ever been! Usually for MMS, it's in perfect order the 1st few days, then goes back to its normal discombobulated self. Not this time; has been pretty perfect the whole count. Yesterday IE: I had 4 missent. FOUR!!!! I will have a half tray some days! Today: I had 16 inverted letters.:rolleyes: I will have 200-300 on a "normal" day. Raw mail? 10-15 pieces. They seem to be making into the DPS since MMS began. The markups that come back to me 3 & 4 times? They seem to be making to where they're supposed to go on the 1st try. I dunno. maybe the plant has fixed all their issues and this will be the new normal :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Not a conspiracy theorist here, but.......This MMS is shaping up to be as bad as the one when I was on vacation for the entire count and my sub did it........

I hate when management says that stuff, "Ehh, dont worry, its only 6%", my thought, "It only 6%, so I'm getting everything I can because of that". EVERY. LITTLE. THING. MATTERS. Every scan, every piece of mail, every minute on load or eos. EVERYTHING!
