no vacation for foreseeable future

asked pm if there would be any vacation to be had in the next two months. Response:"hiring portal opens next friday, tell everyone you know"

i have 88 sick days racked up. How many can i take, and how often before any kind of discipline kicks in?

I foresee a doctors note in your future for stress, maybe even an FMLA case, and take as many as you'd like. Take the whole darn election season off. I'm doing that with my hip replacement surgery starting Sept 21 and out for 4-6 weeks.
you'll be out longer than that before you are truly steady on your feet or allowed any stair treads, expect at least 8-9 weeks and probably only come back for 3-4 day weeks at first.

Take as many sick days as are medically necessary for you to maintain your health.

File the requisite leave requests for any AL you wish to take, grieve any denials.

USPS's endemic inability to properly staff does not constitute an emergency situation that would override your contractual rights to utilize benefits that you earned as you see fit.

Are you sick or just malingering?

As you are probably aware total hip replacement has two techniques, the more invasive one had 12 weeks of restrictions, the other approximately 6 weeks.

Joint surgeries can be interesting.

I needed to have my knee redone without replacement. This included procedures like forcibly fracturing my femur within the knee joint. Total recovery was expected at... 2 years, with a return to work in 4-6 months.

A TKR would've had me back in about 6 weeks.
