NRLCA Reaches Tentative Agreement with USPS for Three-Year Contract

A biggie - which no one seems to be discussing is the elimination of the 60 min change rule. It used to be 2 hrs, then 1, now nothing. Your volume factor will change 2x a yr, but your pay will be based on the number of boxes you serve. No more manipulation by mgmt or your ams person. How many times have you been 10-20 min away from “the next hour?”
Maybe you’re a 47 desperate to get to the safety zone of a 46. Easier now.
Imo, vote yes. Stay on top of your rrecs scans. Get paid for what you do.

I dont understand that 60-bit. Could you detail that for me please? And context for that 2-1-0 hours aspect as well, i have no idea what any of that means.

Cola is based on the cpi. They fluctuate based on the economy. The contractual increases are standard.
Rca’s get 1% vs cola. We used to get nothing.
Rca’s can post for opening after probation, which is now shorter.

Yes, that goes both ways. A double edged sword. Some routes may lose time from seasonal boxes and AI closing boxes without warning.

Currently you need 60 minutes worth of change (usually an increase in deliveries) to process a change your evaluation. (Used to be 120 min). However, your current evaluation could be mere minutes away from the next hour. You no longer need 60 minutes of change. If you add say 3-4 boxes, get enough extra minutes to get you to the next hour, it will be processed.
Same with closing boxes. This eliminates seasonal adjustments. You will get paid for the deliveries you do.
One of the major reason rrecs was such an initial shock was that routes hadn’t been counted for years. Depending on situation, some were overpaid, others underpaid. This is a step in the right direction.

We are like $10hr behind imo. When I started 21 years ago starting out wage was $14.75 hr, wage for fast food jobs was around $6 hr. More then double.
Now panda express here pays $22 hr, In and Out Burger pays $19.87 hr. So we should be starting out around $30 hr. Insane....
I'm glad for the RCAs that they are getting pretty good raises, including that extra $1 after 3 years. $23/hr+ by the end of the contract.
I'm a Table 2, Step 3 Regular and I'm only at around $25-26/hr on my 41K. There really should be a much bigger jump between RCA and Regular.

Unless you are literally on the border, then your pay could go up and down like a yo-yo

-- Regarding the tentative contract -- "The NRLCA National Board unanimously believes the Tentative Agreement is fair and reasonable and is in the best interests of the 131,000 hardworking rural letter carriers across the country."
How many of the voting caste realize that the NRLCA National Board is legally obligated to claim such things? 🤔

Still not going to retain RCAs, without guaranteeing a day off or promising career after 2 yrs. We will never keep RCAs.

I’m tired of training them. Last one didn’t last 3 days. I train another this month. 🤞 I hope they stay at least a year.
Hahaha, yeeeeeeeah. My last one didn’t make it thru the academy (I had them for their shadow day). A guaranteed day off during the work week would be soooooo much better.

Yeah, that is allowing for locality pay. USPS doesn't do that. Or most of Cali for would be at $32 hr for rcas.

If we go into overburdened status will they will cut right then rather than wait?
I've been a 48K for 5 years.

I filed a grievance and was scheduled for May. Within 48 hours it was delayed until late June. Within 2 weeks it was delayed until "at least autumn."

USPS has no intention of fast tracking route cuts. It's free labor, and reduces the career work force.

I know a carrier that is currently minutes from a 47. This person has some growth. So will the carrier ever see much 47k pay or could they get cut back at interim to a 43?
