Proper way for second trip to deliver parcels only.

Missed a scan

This came up again in my office again. What is the proper way to hit scans when you deliver large packages after you completed delivering all the mail (flats and letters, small packages) on the route? This is all stuff that needs delivered today.

This is what I have been doing for the past year and a half.

Once I am ready to leave… depart to route
I get back from the full route delivering all but the big packages…….. return to delivery unit
Do all my end of shift duties that I can then hit ……pm casing
Just before I start to load up packages………start load
When I am done loading……….end load
Go deliver all the stuff
Park at the post office and hit …….. start load, this is to record the time it takes me to walk in the post office, do last of paper work, put more stuff away, maybe need to talk to PM about something work related.
When all that is done hit ….end load
Then hit …….. clock out and be done for the day.

What I was doing prior to the above, apparently was wrong also, but now I am told to go back to doing it as I did in the past, as in 2 years ago. That would be to hit …..return to delivery unit once all packed are delivered after the second trip, don’t hit it prior to loading up for the second trip.

I hate this train reck system that we are using now. To many things have no clear answer. Each time you get a new PM or POOM or safety nazi, something changes and you are screwed once again.

This is correct. When you return again, you put your keys away, notate the 2nd trip time on the 4240 (& mileage if applicable), and Clock Out.

Not loading time. All duties should be completed prior to 2nd Trip.

This messes up your Breadcrumbs & builds the 2nd Trip into the evaluation. Also, you lose 2nd Trip time pay.

When you say all duties should be completed prior to 2nd trip, I believe that is not possible. I have to turn off my flashing light, walk into the office, put the last bit of stuff away, fill out the last line on 4240 (time completed route and additional miles driven, etc. This will take 3 or 4 minutes, unless the PM wants to talk about work stuff, then it will be longer. How do I record that time?
