Hello! I've been throwing mail for about 7-8 months now, I'm doing fine but one of the things slowing me down is fretting over certified letters in my DPS. I'm always so scared that I'll have one and not notice its a certified and just put it in someones mailbox. I've been doing a little light research the past few days and I just wanted to ask if there is a report I can get a supervisor to print out in the mornings that lists all the certs in my dps that day. I've seen someone mention it before somewhere else but they mentioned they were still getting certs in the DPS that weren't listed on the report. Has anyone ever done this? How accurate did you find the report to be? Thanks and have a great weekend!

Ask for the carrier manifest in the MHTS report. It shows the certifieds and return receipts by office and route.

There is also a certified mail report that is supposed to be validated daily. That doesn’t happen.

City carriers now have CM Lookahead on their scanners. Similar to parcel lookahead, but for certifieds.
We all need to just deliver them to the box. They will learn not to put them in the dps.
that goes against postal regulations.

and carriers have been fired for same.

the customer paid for the service. the customer is who sent the item, not who is receiving the item.

we are to look at EVERYTHING before placing in box. that's part of the job. :)

I will see if there is a number on the paper they give us but we sometimes receive a sheet that tells us the address and that there is a cert or a return receipt for that address. Just looks like a spread sheet type document so i don't know if there is an official form number but there is definitely a thing they give us at our office to let us know. Sometimes i get certs and they aren't on the list they give us. Just the other day had two certs in my flats and they were not on the list but the one listed there was in my dps as the sheet stated. I really don't use the sheet because if they're there they're there and no one has ever questioned about certs not being there or missing scans.

Should have arrival scan for the local post office. That can only be done by the clerks at the local office, just like the packages.
not anymore.

the clerks had filed something way back regarding the handling of certifieds. that is why they are now in the DPS. they have already been scanned. we are to deliver them.

there was also a standup about this a few months ago.

Weren't people saying that certs without an arrival scan weren't getting proper rrecs credit? Was that ever true or was it fixed if it was true? So many changes with rrecs that I'm having trouble keeping up.

Personally I take a cpl minutes on load time to glance thru dps for certified. Pending on route now I case some of the dps before taking the rest to street. if You know the routes and have worked them a while. You get a feel for which residents get certified regularly 🤷‍♂️.

I still prefer to get aau scan for any certs in tubs of raw flats but dps wise no. The scan of the cert is what gives the credit out on the street.

Can't back it up with documentation, but I scan them all "out for delivery", and Monday, all the B/Cs from Saturday, as "out for redelivery"

Utterly amazing the lack of communication across the PO. We were told by district 4 years ago to stop pulling and AAU certs found in DPS. Was in a mandatory standup. Also told not to bring back for AAU if found on route. Delaying first class mail. How much smoother would this place run if communication was common and ”in my office” was no longer a thing.
