RCA carrying a city route?

We have a recently new supervisor trying to make an rca carry a city route for Amazon. Is this allowed? I didn't think we were able to cross crafts like that l.

Is it Amazon Sunday delivery? If so it is the wild west, there are basically no rules.

If not on a Sunday: in smaller offices it isn't unheard of for an RCA to fill in on a city route if staffing is short (I've done it before). But if any CCA's in the area (like 50 miles?) found out and grieved; they would win and the PM would probably be in hot water.

Yes, for Amazon Sunday. I talked to my steward after posting here and she said no.

I've also heard that it needs to be 100% volunteer based.

apparently my supervisor didn't like that I talked a new rca out of working a city route. Said rca happens to be my cousin and she was asking me about it. I didn't talk her out of anything.

Lately, in the last few months, we've had the opposite situation, where a CCA has cased and/or delivered a rural route, during the week. I also thought that was not allowed, since it's crossing crafts?? But no one seems to give it a second thought...

In our office I wouldn't be surprised if they'd grab someone from the old folks' home who could only half see and shuffled along with a walker to deliver mail, they're so desperate for anyone, ANYONE, to get the job done!!

On Amazon Sunday it’s a free for all, just get it done, by any means necessary kind of day. The offices I worked at all helped each other out so that no one was out there by themselves. Other offices are different though. Some days I was out there until 7pm and that was helping another RCA. It didn’t matter if the route was City or Rural.

You’d be surprised by what I’ve seen and done where crossing crafts is concerned. Some people are absolutely against it but I see it as sometimes helpful and necessary in smaller offices. I always tell people to grieve it if they have a problem.

Your RCAs can have the best of two worlds, just like the clerks and cities do.

Grieve for the work done by others outside the craft.

If they have the gonads to do so, their children will have a wonderful Christmas (or they can put the extry in a savings account).

Gotta know the rules to win the game. ;)

I'm confused? How can they grieve a cca running a rural route when they are already running a route that day?

You grieve a CCA taking away from the rural craft.

The same way clerk craft does when a CCA or RCA crosses crafts.

The same way city craft does when a rural or clerk crosses crafts.

We don't worry about no bodies. That is management's problem. There is an RCA somewhere who would welcome the work.

Management gets by with what we let them. You can either go along to get along or hold their feet to the fire.

No. That is the stupid part. There is no grievance for the person doing the work, just those not working. Unless the working person was effectively denied opportunity for better money.

Is there really an opportunity for better money than being paid by the hour for something you don't want to do?

If it wasn't a Sunday, and you were working an hourly city route or clerk work, where you could be earning evaluation, and staying under 40, where effective wage was higher doing craft work. It is a stretch, but the scenario exists.
Ok, I'm an idiot, I admit it. I still don't understand who gets paid if you file the grievance when all available rcas are already working. There is no one within our area (rcas) who aren't working. The oic called every rural office/office with rural routes and could only find a cca. Sub situation is about to collapse in our area. It's a regular route mid week
