RCA's, are they assigned to a route, or the post office as a whole?

Ever hear of a PM hitting the streets to recruit RCAs in a small town? Our empty slot is now up for its under-the-rock 5 day run on the worlds must unreliable website.

It seems relatively easy and straightforward. Hit the local weekly paper, the Rotary Club,

Put some flyers at the grocery store, auto parts store, etc.

An hour a day for 2 days, and at least the word is out. But, then the POV thing would inevitably come up.

Maybe do an eddm for the route that needs the sub or the office. One would think they would put that sort of thing into the budget but we all know better :(

In the same boat. my 120 letter will be grieved next week as my ptfs conversion date draws near.

So silly question, after you file the grievance on the 120 letter, what then? Do you grieve it every week after that until you have a sub or what?

I check daily on all the hiring sites that I can think of and they don't have anything posted, or when they do its up maybe once a month for less than a week and then taken down.
I think it just shows how useless and uncaring mngt is.... it's their job to do hiring, but when was the last time you heard of any telecon raking anybody over the coals for not getting the HIRING job done???? It doesn't happen.... I actually believe the worthless bastids are just using lack of hiring as another carrier harassment tool.... that's all they really seem to care about.... they need to start a harassment hotline.... js.... 🤷‍♂️👉(n):poop::oops:🤯

Do like everybody else.... hang a BIG "We're HIRING" sign on the front of the Post Office.... wth.... can't hurt, doesn't really cost anything.... 🤷‍♂️👉🤯

Imo you're wrong. You don't make the schedule; the postmaster or supervisors do. It is not the duty or responsibility of the other carrier to ask you if you sanction their time off. Don't think it matters one ounce whose sheet the sub is listed on as the procedure for determining leave eligibility is based upon replacement availability. Given that a sub was available upon the submittal of leave and granted accordingly. Leave is granted first come first serve. You missed the boat this time. Remember nothing at the postal service is yours. The route, the gov vehicle, the sub, they all belong to the postal service.
There's a thing called a matrix isn't there?..also..a contract?..which..the po doesn't acknowledge..js

Well afaik the matrix is more about which sub is entitled to the hours when they're available and the contract puts forth what I described. Although the contract is a joke to management. Was told by previous management that they didn't care about our contract that by the time we grieve it and they lose that it won't matter because they need to have done whatever it was they were ordering us to do.

There is a whole lot of truth said in your statement.

Yep. And that's why there is almost never a "win" in a grievance. The damage has already been done and management has achieved its' goal.
Only way I consider it a win is when momentary penalties escalate per occasion. Sadly it is usually only for the individual who filed. Rarely does it become a class action and can be used by all involved.

I consider it a win by stopping the violation of the Contract before it happens. After is too late!
You just have decent management, here it’s bring it up beforehand and get told do it regardless. File if you want to file I don’t care. It’s why many don’t even bother standing up for themselves let alone the policies, contract we work under.

That's because the precedence have been set base on prior occurrences'. They know they will just get a slap on the wrist, rinse and repeat. I will fight to stop so that it can't be said, "well we did it this way last time". 9 times out of 10 a grievance won't get filed, because Most Carriers don't give two Schitts to follow through. Managers get what they want, and licence to do it again has just been given to them to violate again.

That's actually how "it" is supposed to work. Contrary to the narrative and the rhetoric.
But this is not the stance the NRLCA suggests, Their favorite line is just do what you are told and file a grievance after the fact. To me it too late at that point. I reverse the table on them and demand Contractual Compliance or a written order to violate.
