RCAs clerking/throwing packages

1) the aux carrier needs to start reporting on time. is the aux carrier writing down that he reported early or is he working off the clock crossing crafts?

2) the aux carrier is stealing clerk hours by showing that all this extra work can be done by 1 person (the lone clerk), when in reality, there is enough work for 2 clerks if he would just stop crossing crafts.

3) none of this extra cross craft work is included in the evaluation of the aux route. the aux carrier should be paid on a green card for this cross craft work.

Fully agree, until they have a cross craft position, which is unlikely. Once individuals start doing other craft's work there's really no definitive end to it, and everyone loses in the long run.

I tell the clerks that I don't want to do their work, and I don't want them doing mine. We are friends, get along well, and agree that if management ever asks us to do the other craft's work we will file immediately. We have plenty of work to go around. When clerks are shorthanded, by them having to manage and maybe have up times late, this documents to management that they need additional hours or clerks.

In our office, for example, it was a sweet deal because after one clerk grieved it the contract was still violated whenever said clerk was off. Some people benefitted and the clerks who were harmed either weren't scheduled or turned a blind eye because they were already in OT and there were more parcels than they could possibly throw in one day. In some offices, clerks or carriers who complained about the practice were bullied into silence by their own craft members. :( With Covid X-mas I'd be surprised if this wasn't a common occurrence.
We have A regular carrier who comes in and does half of our clerk work I was told its normal in a rural office since i came from a larger city office!! the postmaster and carriers do most parcel sorting today carrier came in and did clerk work for 10 hours off the clock

What????

NO it's not normal for carriers to do parcel sorting nor is it normal for clerks to work for free. Our offices are fairly large, big suburban areas, and NONE of this happens. Our clerks would grieve, and management knows it (cost of grievance is expensive AND they still have to pay the clerks to do the work)

Not saying there isn't ever "flex" in extreme times, but normal procedure is follow the contrac.

Curious as to how the carrier is paid to sort parcels...this smacks of fraud to me, but I'm just a nobody who reads and sometimes thinks........

You are not a nobody, You matter.
Old Fart You are highly Intelligent, and more than a few times, your comments have helped me immensely in whatever I was trying to figure out at the time. Only the occasional IGNORAMUS would ever say, or imply differently. Im thankful for all the GREAT ADVICE, and Experience you shared with me on this site.
