Im currently on hold down on a 6 day a week AUX route 41 hrs a week and i was just informed by my oic that if im needed at other offices when i get done with my AUX route that i will have to go to the other offices IS THIS TRUE? (BECAUSE OF THE NEW CONTRACT) ,Where can i find it in writing either way? Thanks so much you all are so helpful

I think this thread might be what your looking for:
RCA required to work in other offices

There's also some good discussion here:
Anyone on a POV Route would have to be an idiot to vote yes

I think it's more a function of sub shortage than anything else. Which itself seems to be a result of sub burnout and hiring problems.
Don't let them burn you out!

If you do get sent to another office, make sure you get paid the mileage. That IS a part of the new contract.
It also states in this new contract that Management may not schedule a relief carrier to work another office if that relief carrier is contractually entitled to work on their assigned office on that day ,,,,,, Im on a six day a week route so should i have to go to another office when im finished on my AUX route

-- Unfortunately yes, it is true -- thanks to the 2015-2018 contract. Article 30.2.G.5. AFTER completion of the assigned auxiliary route or the primary route assignment, a leave replacement assigned to serve the auxiliary route may be utilized on any other auxiliary route, or serve as a leave replacement on any regular route.

-- Also say a little something for Arbitrator Clarke ( 2010-2015 ) who changed AUX's from going regular from 39 standard hours to 42 standard hours.

-- Take a look at Step 4 ( R-96 ). In part: However, except in emergency [ actual emergencies, not one manglement thinks up ] situations, management MUST NOT SCHEDULE a leave replacement to serve on two full assignments or one full assignment and one or more partial assignments in a single day, if the evaluations of these assignments total twelve hours or more. While the assignments may not total 12 hours or more, it may take the rural carrier longet than 12 hours to complete the assignments.

-- An 6.8+ hour eval may leave plenty of room for other "assignments".

-- Be sure to take your 30-minute lunch break, putting it on the 4240 IN INK. ( make'm pay -- one way or another! )

-- Note the mileage also -- in ink.

-- Manglement is supposed to notify District when someone works over 12 hours in a day.

-- Why are you doing the AUX as a "hold down"?

-- Have you completed your probationary period of 90-work days or 1 calendar year?

-- Hasn't manglement offered the AUX to qualified RCA's? If not, why not? No "qualified" personnel?

-- While the extra money may be nice, your are NOT EARNING annual and sick leave while working other assignments.

Ink not even dry on this new contract and mgmt. is all abuzz with their new 'discovery' that they can send RCAs to other offices...and pushing it hard in this area--our PM gleefully reported to 'the room' that the higher bosses are instructing them that this 'new' provision will save everyone's bacon when routes are down.
As expected, the news went over like a lead balloon...and more RCA's are looking to get out of this sh*t show.

Day this contract was announced as accepted and the provision became common knowledge, RCA assigned to my route applied for a different non-postal job. She leaves at the end of September and is only staying that long because I have had a 2 week trip planned for nearly a year and she wants to make sure I can go. I am not hopeful for any new RCA applicants in our area. Help wanted signs everywhere.

The New Contract has that RCAs May be utilized in other offices if not needed in their home office. As you are a 6-day Auxiliary RCA, I’d say that he is incorrect in sending you to other offices AFTER unless the other office is in a APO/RMPO situation. Probably going to take a Grievance filing to clear it up.

Well, wait until the short-sighted, gleeful PM tries to find a sub from another office.

He may be the one that ends up delivering.?

Same thing in my neck-of-woods; PM thought I didn't even know. I was prepared with questions.

My concern is always getting enough hours to go buy groceries...

I asked how they will determine who gets scheduled/sent. Will it be by Seniority or Juniority - citing that obviously some RCAs will want hours and others will not.

She was dumbfounded and confused then claimed ignorance that nothing about that was in the email.

They don't even know what they are doing and the NRLCA just gives them the go ahead. WTH is going on and why are the Rural Regulars just like "whatever" about it all?

Meanwhile a CCA had a fit today because they didn't want to have to work their little 4 hours and drive 30 miles to another office [which their UNION graciously fought for them to get PAID miles AND TIME for travel].... but the poor RCA has to drive their gas guzzling truck 50 for measly e-travel and not even EMA.

Some of us Regs aren’t so “whatever” about it. Mgmt already had the capability of doing this but refused to pay mileage. My best guess would be as anything else that can be “Voluntold”, take Volunteers by Seniority & force by Junior. I’m sure it will be made clear in the Actual Contract wording along with the updating of the O-6 (Order of Consideration).

I'm simply not going unless it fits and suits me. To get paid emileage instead of ema and not hrs? No way.

Make sure to take your scanner with you from your home office if possible. Have to pay wage if you are transporting and signed in to postal property.
