Rural Reach scan

What are some of the things that would qualify for the Rural Reach activity scan? I know having to talk to customers about mail-related stuff, but are there any other things that might qualify? Emptying full boxes and leaving notice? How about having to supply a customer with tubs for their outgoing packages which I pick up? I typically load up my personal vehicle and drop them off on my way home.

Rural Reach is a specific program designed to generate business leads for the USPS, I.e. getting businesses on your route to purchase direct mail or choose USPS to ship packages. It’s not “having to talk to customers about mail related stuff” but if that’s what your supervisor thinks it is, more power to you.

“Rural Reach is a lead-generation program for rural carriers and follows the same concept as Customer Connect — rural carriers identify potential businesses on their routes that can benefit from learning more about postal products and services. As part of Rural Reach, rural carriers submit leads and share product information with key customers.”

There is no actual personal contact required under rural reach. It is simply a generator of leads. Name of individual, business and contact ( address or phone). I have at least one a week. Someone puts flyers in boxes? Turn it in as a lead. The current software doesn't even ask for any info. Just click rural reach and it adds one. This may change with scanner update on the 8 th.

This and stamp stock, and everybody knows this, should never, double never, have been left up to carrier discretion just like most of this carrier required input bunch of bull malarkey. Oh yeah , let me take this U-line catalog to the door and hit unscannable parcell ? How many did I have today, 50 ? They will never come up with an evaluated pay system that peeps won’t screw with. Kind of like spray painting the 30 mph sign to read 80. I am under this same ignorant pile of 💩 and as always if you benefit from it you love it and if not you hate it!

Our office has even been promoting that if you enter at least one lead every week, they tell us it has been approved to be worth 20 minutes on your evaluation. Anybody else been told this ? I sure didn’t see it on last 4241-A.

I know I’m going against the grain here, but if I sold cars do you think the dealer would GAS how many lookers I talked to ?

It's five minutes per referral but averaged over 12 months.
Ex: 1 reach per month equals 60 = 2 minutes a pp over years evaluation.

So....they lied, yet again.

This is from the RRECS guide : Each Contact with a potential Rural reach Customer indicated by the carrier on the MDD using the RURALREACH entry is credited using Standard S067 (Contact Rural reach customers) at 5.2458 minutes. The carrier will indicate the trip to the door, if necessary, on the MDD using the DOORMISC entry and the route will be credited with the appropriate driving and walking time for that day. Total time spent on Rural Reach activities is averaged over 52 weeks. The actions included in this standard are: 1) The carrier will park the vehicle and retrieve a Rural Reach customer brochure and “Lead Card” before exiting the vehicle. Carrier will lock the vehicle if it will be out of sight. 2) The carrier will approach and greet the customer and then offer to describe additional USPS customer services. 3) If the customer agrees carrier will proceed with a brief overview of services and give the Rural Reach brochure to the customer4) The carrier will offer a follow‐up contact within 48 hours. If the customer agrees the carrier will obtain the “Lead Card” and complete it with the customer providing information. 5) The carrier will thank the customer for their time and depart the customer location. 6) The carrier will arrive at the vehicle, re‐enter, and prepare to continue their route. This is the ONLY time you select Rural Reach on your scanner. My PM wont even provide the brochures. LOL

Is it the same thing though when you use ‘U’ on the scanner and enter the customer’s info and then you get a message that says “Thank you (MDD user) for the lead” ?

You get no credit for actual information lead input. Only for the rrecs event prompt. You could use the event time to input info, I have. Every single one has auto closed as a lead because no one ever contacts the customer.

Duh, then I don’t get it ! Why does it ask for customer’s address & phone # if the potential customer that’s going to save USPS is not going to be contacted ?

There is no actual requirement to turn in a lead to use a RuralReach scan.

We are allowed in my area to use the scan for ECC Customer Complaint forms if we have to actually find a pkg or do something on route. If I’m just answering the inquiry in office, I put it under Load Time.

Nope. You have to log it into RRECS for credit.
Well now that I think about it that actually is what occurs: select RR, select U and so forth. It just seems to me, maybe I’m crazy, (no not maybe, been doing this too long) more credit should be given when an actual contact is given than when you just hit RR cause you just burped.
