September 2026 COLA

I saw the APWU post that their COLA is going to be $1414, so I asked Google what is the NRLCA COLA going to be? It said $457.60 at top step and I asked why such a difference? They said they have a different baseline for their calculation as negotiated in the contract. What the he'll is this? Is Google correct that our raise is going to be a third of what the clerks get?

APWU, NALC and NRLCA all use the same formula.
Current CPI-W minus previous CPI-W. Then divide by .4. Round down. That's cents per hour. Multiply by 2080 ( round down) to get yearly total.

I see what went wrong. I learned about the 1967 vs 1982. The bot was using the (1982-84=100) instead of the (1967=100) and then dividing by the 0.4 required by the 1967 calculation, spitting out a pathetic cost of living adjustment.

Speaking of COLA, I sure hope the NLCA is pushing hard to eliminate the diet cola and not worried about getting another .1% of a raise. Getting rid of the diet COLA would be good raises for all. Please NRLCA do something with diet cola because it is a joke.

How can I figure what amount I get roughly?

I just wanna do some math and see over time how much money behind I am if I would have gotten FULL COLA vs diet COLA

Don’t do it seriously do not do it, all it will do is feed a further negative outlook. Not saying be happy about it or even content about it. It’s not worth the negative energy that this line of thinking will bring.

It's not for that. It is just to prove point that carrier waste so much time on these 1.3% or 1.4% raise when the COLA would be way better in these times. These city carriers were all complaing and I said full COLA would be way better and they just laugh.

If you are on TABLE #2 you need to find out the ratio of the STEP you are on in relation to STEP #15.

So for example if you are on STEP #8. on TABLE #2.
Take the Evaluation dollar amount for STEP #8 and divide it by the Evaluation dollar amount for STEP #15. Then multiply that result by the $1414 (COLA amount).

Using the current TABLE #2 for a 40 hour route as an example: $63,588 (STEP #8) divided by $77,215 (STEP #15) this would equal .8235 %

So in this case your COLA amount will be .8235 X $1414 = $1164.43 per/yr or about .56 cents per hour.

For a 40 hour route TABLE #2 - STEP #15. it would be $1414. per/yr or about .68 cents per hour.

seems backwards to me - table 1 should be getting the diet cola and giving the full cola to table 2 so as to bring the two tables closer to parity over time. after all we are doing the same job - fair days pay for a fair days work and all that.
