The future of Aux Carriers?

mail1000, well, this is the first time I've seen the 4241-A since taking my Aux route almost 1.5 years ago, so I have no previous copies to compare to, but yeah, the "Salary" indicated on my 4241-A that I received yesterday doesn't seem to match up with my hourly RCA pay of $19.06 at the evaluated hours of 29 a week.
Doesnt match for the positive or negative?

I edited all of what I previously typed because I thought about this more.
I am curious.
When a regular gets a 4241-A our name is on it and our employee id and our salary. The salary matches what it shows as our salary on our form 50.

Is your 4241-A set up the same way?
Is the salary that is listed YOUR specific salary?
It's really crappy if they show a wage of someone that is making more than you. The 12k means some RCA could make $26ish per hr.
There are multiple pay tables
Do aux Carriers get step increases as the years go by?
43 months, this is the actual 4241-A that I received yesterday. As far as I know, aux carriers do not get step increases. Also, not sure if it matters, but I am the only RCA in my office at the moment. There is my aux, and one K route. The carrier on the K route assumed it was the "Salary" for a carrier from many years ago, but what surprises me about that, is that the route was also significantly shorter back then. The aux route has had boxes added to it since the current K route carrier was on it, which was close to 10 years ago.
Aside from that, the RCA that was on the aux before me, had only worked for the PO for perhaps 3 years tops, so if the "Salary" is based on a previous RCA, then it has to have been someone that goes back at least 10+ years, and I'm not sure how long the person before the one before me was on the aux. That person may had been hired before 2010, but would they be making $26ish per hour today, even if they were still on the aux?IMG_0261.jpeg

1.5 years of service before seeing a 4241A is wrong. You should get 4241A after monthly book submission requirement.

Don't know your situation regarding AUX pick off by REGS in mix. There is wording regarding rebuilds for REG runs due to RRECS #'s

The salary is a full-time salary for an RCA based on forty-hour week. If you noticed on the older salary schedule it used to list the "annual rate" for RCAs.

Windindaface, this might be dumb question, and forgive me if it is, but what do you mean by "monthly book submission requirement"?

As far as your comment on RRECS, do you mean the K route being rebuilt with parts off my aux if it falls to low due to RRECS? If so, me and the regular has been talking lately about that, and he believes that his route could get "busted", as he calls it, rather than lowered. Especially due to the volume in Amazon that his route gets. So I'm thinking my aux is safe, but I'll just have to wait and see

Thanks mar88! I think you might have solved it for me. After pushing the #'s, it does seem to add up to the "Salary" listed on my 4241-A when I figure for 40 hours a week at $19.06 an hour.

Though it does seem a bit strange that they would figure my salary on my aux based on 40 hours instead of the evaluated 29.

mail1000, my office is rather heavy on Amazon. Also, we had no Amazon during the last count in 2018
IDK how any of this RRECS is working...but was thinking maybe you gained since 2018 having amazon now and did not then? However, I thought none of the evaluations would be known till October? MAR88 may be correct in it being based on 40 hours, yet like you said its just evaluated at 29...??? All puzzling to me...???

mail1000, I agree, it is a bit puzzling that they would use 40 hours instead of 29.

As for RRECS, I'm unsure if it's gonna be of any real benefit to us carriers, but I'm just hoping that with my office being rather heavy on Amazon, that it may actually turn the tide in our favor at my office. It would be nice, to finally get paid for all this Amazon

My guess is the previous rca who ran the route was hired before 8/1/2012 and was making north of $25/hr. You still don't make what an rca made over 11 years ago. Think about that. The rca wage was reduced by @ $5 hr on the above date.

@Mt.Carrier. About monthly submission requirement.

For 2-3? years monthly book submission has been going on in all APOS around here.

PM and Super know what day of the month to send all books in with or no changes.

They learned that lesson after a couple of conference call outs by the POOM about the overdue books.

Mt.Carrier -- " well, this is the first time I've seen the 4241-A since taking my Aux route almost 1.5 years ago, so I have no previous copies to compare to, "

-- Does your route have a Route Book ( usually a black, 3-ring binder )?

-- If not, ask manglement for one. ( Item 0-39M ) If manglement can not come up with one, contact your Assistant District Representative and start writing grievances.

-- Section 232.1 of the PO-603 lists the documents that belong in the Route Book. Including the 4241-A.

-- Should manglement deny your binder request, that's a grievance, citing Section 142.3 of the PO-603. The USPS supplies ALL additional necessary equipment, supplies, and FORMS. Ask if manglement would sign a note indicating the Route Book binder is "unnecessary"!

-- If manglement is unable to "locate" past 4241-As for the route, another grievance, as that is an official document. Possibly the ADR can "assist" on finding it.

-- Used to be 3 copies: 1-post office, 2-route book, 3-carrier

What’s an aux rca again. Seriously none of the rcas in my office will take It once bidding is awarded. Current aux rca is getting career it will be an open route everyday of the week. Have enough rcas to cover relief days and 204b when not on route. Should make district happy none of us will go home before 5 pm everyday.

Surprised nobody took the AUX run in mix?

Aux runners are only allowed 1 string in a short RCA Snow Globe world.
Whoever takes the aux will be sent elsewhere when done. It takes 7-8 hrs to run eval is 6 hrs tho. Have lots of towns/cities near us with little to no rcas. 20-40 rural routes open everyday between them. None of us want that headache and the most likely candidate to be sent to is a 50 min drive.

I think that's the fear with Aux carriers. I think they have been downgraded now that ALL RCAs earn AL in the future. There's no benefit to an Aux route especially if they will keep person around to help others or send to other offices. I'm not sure if the whole if they case and carry a route would qualify them or not (Guess most of it depends on union rep and how they are).

My old office has gone through 2 people (INCLUDING ME) in 11 months on Aux route. Why because the union inept ability to protect us. I don't think he ever tried to file grievance for the same thing. Constantly getting pulled off route.

I did, but the rep told me I had no standing, which was complete lie and joke. I was constantly getting pulled off Aux route for X DAY! I was 6/0. She was like well that's a grievance but filing it may cause them to pivot it on you. I was like I don't care, I wanna file because 3 straight weeks they pulled me and I have gave them 2 weeks of warning including showing in contract how you can't pull me. She never told me how to file or what I need to do.

Few months later, regular got tired of working Saturdays, so they started pivoting/splitting/whatever you want to call it between a carrier running full route (her route goes out of the office that this route goes to, so she would take that portion of where she was) and myself on the aux (I would take other half). Called same union rep and they told me ZERO CONTRACTUAL RULES BROKE, which again isn't true. I cited the order of consideration about splitting routes on regular or on-going basis. Told me that's not in contract. I said well order of consideration is backed up and supported by the contract. Basically told me to suck it up. That was my last straw and I ended up transferring 2 months later.

Aux carriers have no benefit of working aux route anymore once the RCAs start earning PTO. Yes they get sick leave, but still it isn't worth the extra hassle if they are forced to go elsewhere. No one knows yet. Personally I miss my aux route, but the inept people failed to protect me. The aux route was perfect for me with my 2nd job, but the stress and BS of old office and no protection let me down.

Updating the Edit Book only.......... does nothing towards effecting your pay!

You will only receive a 4241A after a 4003 update or a Mail Count. In this case it sounds like the 4003 was updated to include the Base Hour Change caused by the RRECS ACTIVITY SCAN's as per the original MOU for RRECS.

The large change could have been the result of additional noncredited changes in the Edit Book that were now captured as a result of a 4003 update completed for the RRECS/Base Hour Change agreement.
