UNSCANPARCEL Definition

Hello, has anyone been successful in getting a definition of what an UNSCANPARCEL is?
I cannot find or get an an answer.
We had the blue ruler before to guide us...now we have nothing.
I know this has been covered in other threads, but as we are close to the count, was wondering if anyone has had any luck yet?
I have been told what is NOT a UNSCANPARCEL: Anything without a barcode that looks like a letter or flat.
So I will assume that an UNSCANPARCEL is anything without a barcode that DOES NOT look like a letter or a flat??

So if anyone has any real info, it would be helpful.

1964 Supreme Court case asking Potter Stewart to define pornography.

Maybe we could ask our Stewart what an UNSCANPARCEL is. 🤪

That sounds pretty good to me.
IMO:
If they cannot tell you what it is, you must decide. If they tell you something is not, its likely someone's else's idea they are parroting.
You are the expert on your route, and with things that are delivered in the manner of a parcel.

If I cannot case it for convenient pull-down, and have to either mark it or remember it, I enter an Unscanned Parcel scan on delivery. This includes large catalogs, Do Not Bend stuff, the mailers with socks or calendars, etc.
Usually, I'll have a 1-2/day. Rare times 10-20. Never been asked about the scans.

I was told that anything that does not fit in the case with the mail is a parcel.

I was allowed to
I was as well.

What I thought was always ridiculous was the USPS management demanding, after count of course, that some cases be forced to use one in slots. The union claimed it was the right of the USPS to manage their equipment. However, a good chunk of non-parcel scans should have been credited as parcels if we had 1 inch slots during count.

What does being "close to the count" mean? As far as I know, parcels (including Unscanparcel) are not being counted during the 2 week survey. All the info posted above should be your guiding point all year long (especially school photos, Shutterfly)!! Remember, everything you scan, punch in, record is an EVERY DAY ALL YEAR action that affects your overall evaluation...not just for 2 weeks like in the past!

In the old mail counts, weren't we allowed to check any questionable parcels to see if it would fit in the case slot WITH all of the cased mail?
We'll be looking back at those days as the good ole days.... now it's bada bing, push the button, and here's your eval.... must be right because the computer says so.... sorry we don't know how to verify anything, so you're just gonna have to go on blind faith.... what.... you think 40H is too low???? 🤷‍♂️(n):poop::oops:

Sometimes you don't have room for all 2 inch slots without adding more cases. So a lot of mine have become 1 inch over time but the PM hasn't pushed it since we haven't had a count since his arrival but I'm sure some will.
