• Everyone, please help make our jobs easier and choose the correct category. Thank you

When will we see our results?

If you ever get close to retirement, and understand trying to get a decent pension, you will change your opinion on this.... js.... high-3 is specifically intended to help boost up retirements, and that's the rationale they gave for pushing it to having 10 years as a Reg before requesting it.... live and learn, grasshopper..... šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø(y)
I am over 62 and eligible to retire. And my opinion hasn't changed grasshopper. I watched Kung-fu too. Maybe they should have put more money in tsp. I don't want to work 6 days a week in my pov with all the injuries my job has given me. Js gravy train.......

If I drop, I plan to keep the same schedule by taking leave.... but, I did elect a high option to try to keep the salary up.... to each their own.... js.... everybody has different circumstances.... šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ§

Exactly !!! Thank you !!! I thought I was the only one that understood this. WHEN I see my TOTAL ACTUAL evaluation , accurate or not, THEN I will make the decision regarding leave commitment. Then, there is the wording on that Form which , in part, states ; " in the event I am ELIGIBLE to elect a higher route classification........." So, is it that you DID elect a higher route classification or is it that you have the option to elect a higher route classification even when you elected the lower classification ?
If you take high option, you can always change you mind through the year.

Cheap 2 bedroom apartment here is going for $2400 month with $5000 deposit fees. If you live in a cheaper state, like Ohio or Nebraska, your monthly housing isn't anything like it is in East or West coast delivery areas. Carriers must deal with local pricing, only so many economies you can't make unless you want to join our homeless.
We are a national craft and not all carriers have a sweet deal.
We got an open sub spot in our office.
If it weren't for my wife, I'd let someone pull a trailer onto my place, and hook them up free electric and water for $500/month, no problem.
No need for septic. With all the cows, wild hogs, etc what's the difference?

What I don’t I understand is if the high option only means you make more money but work an extra day each pay period. why would any regular who waited many many years to work 5 days a week choose to work 6 again?
For the exact same reason you’ve stated numerous times…. To keep the same pay….

sorry, I didn’t notice YOU was replying to db….. all I noticed was db, and hit reply….. sorry….

Mo money.... aka.... SHOW US THE MONEY!!!!! šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø(y)šŸ¤‘

Keep in mind.... these extra hours are all at the OT rate.... extra 4 hours weekly of OT per annum = ~$10,0000 .... aka TEN THOUSAND DOLLARS.....

And, in my case, I'm sitting on a whole pile of AL & SL.... so, I'd likely just take an extra day of leave each pay period and basically keep the same schedule.... change???? What changed????

So, you see, same schedule, and more money.... who wouldn't take that deal and keep building the ole high-3 for retirement.... So, there are many things to consider, and what you mentioned is but one, that can likely be mitigated.... :unsure:šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ§
I’m quite sure my math/thinking here is wrong, but reading it like you proposed here, you said ā€œextra 4 hours weekly of OTā€¦ā€
I Completely get that part, but the way I’m looking at it, you’ll be working 1 extra day per PP, for those 4 hours OT….. Hence, your working 8 (+) hours per PP, all for 4 more OT hours??? In my mind, 8 hours more per PP, for 4 hours OT a week, 4 hours OT = 6 straight time hours…. So essentially, your really only making 2 hours more salary wise, but working 8 hours more, to get 2 hours more pay???

(I’m too new to choose high option, and I highly doubt my K status will fall enough to worry (even if I could) to completely grasp the high/low option….
but the way I’m reading it, (let’s use 40k for simplicity) you work 80 hours a PP for that 40k…. 8 hours a day, 5 days a week….. but now, you fall enough, you have to choose high option…. Now you work 40 hours 1 week, and 48 the next week…. 88 hours a PP…. (I GET your point, you’ll burn an annual every other week to maintain your 2 days a week off), so that extra 4 hours ot really isn’t the same as… it’s only like getting 2 straight time hours more, yet you’d be working 8 hours more…..
again, it’s probably nothing I’ll ever have to worry about, so I really haven’t tried grasping the ā€œhigh/lowā€ option…..). (YET)

I find it odd that during the mail count period, the DPS, flats, raw bundles was very slim. The day after it ended, we get hit with DPS trays triple what we normally get. I average 3-4 trays daily. During the count, only got 1-2 trays and after it ended, 10 trays!
Been like that the 3 counts I been thru 2012,2015,2018…. Some things will never change… only thing I can say, this survey, hidden mail was nowhere as bad as it was back then. It was bad, but not as bad. (For me anyway)

On the pay tables.... all hours above 40 are figured/calculated at the OT rate..... the 40 hour rate is at straight time, but a 41 hour rate is 40 straight time hours and one OT hour.... and a 46 is 40 straight plus 6 OT hours.... so this is why the hours above 40 are $$$$ beneficial.... basically time and a half.... so if you could choose high option, then say, you could turn a 42k into a 46J.... so for that one extra day per pay period worked, you'd get an extra 4 OT hours per week, or 8 hours of OT per pay period.... and if you go to the pay tables that could boost your annual salary to above an additional $10k per annum depending on what Table and Step you are at... so, those 26 extra days worked are worth more than many of your other days..... also, your DACA 5s are boosted up as well.... it's basically a mathematical exercise.... aka you have to do the math.... šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ§šŸ¤‘

Gottcha! I see where I wasn’t thinking right. i knew, but forgot about, (for example) the 42k becoming a 46j…..
