Mail Survey (Mini Mail Count): So Why Do You Think They're Tracking If We Take DPS to the Street or Not?

Because I have morons who will say exactly what I posted… it’s automatically default, which means it will make that same selection everyday unless changed. Unfortunately they won’t understand the part about being able to change 🤪
Where does this come up on the scanner?

Default doesn't mean permanent. Most routes will carry DPS the same everyday. So need to change the selection. It's already filled out. For those that like to mix it up. The selection can can be changed.
Why have the option or ask daily DPS method if it can't be changed?
Correct !! For example, the regular cases DPS every day but the RCA on the relief day does not or vice versa.

Ivv be watched video and Heather stated… only has to be notated once whether casing or not and will automatically fill in for remainder of days. So, if you carry, but chose to case one day due to situation, you won’t be able to change? This right here is another reason why no carrier ship sign off.
The question on DPS casing is “majority“ so 1 Day would not be the majority.

I’ve done it both ways for years and I believe casing DPS is faster, but I still prefer to take it to the street to get out of the office and also to deal with DPS while I’m sitting in the LLV (as opposed to standing at the case). The difference in time is not meaningful to me—about 15-20 minutes most days.
I always Case my curbs no matter the volume but take CBUs to the street on heavy days & case on light days.
Curbs are on busy 3-lane County roads that have NO shoulder so vehicles are coming up quick on me & usually use the dedicated turn lane to go around me at 50 mph. I prefer not to be a sitting duck on purpose. Scanning pkgs takes long enough to make me nervous as does SPMs.
CBUs are 6-10 free from the curb so carrying trays, tubs, parcels, & boxholders can get annoying on any day.

They won't this count but they usually adjust things as they want. I don't see why the standard should be different depending on the vehicle.

For ease of delivery, wouldnt you think its easier/more efficient to deliver from trays of dps in a RHD type vehicle with a tray than say a LHD buick ?

It wasn't for me. I cased everything and had my bundle on the right so I didn't have to grab mail with left hand and bring it across my body and switch hands. All in one motion saves a few seconds times 500 boxes. Going to rhd added at least 20 minutes. But rhd is definitely easier on your body.

One of the things that stands out regarding wanting to know if DPS is cased or not is the fact that it is the ROUTE that is being counted / evaluated and NOT the CARRIER. In addition to trying to limit EOS time with all that crap from DPS that we do in the afternoon even when we do case the DPS, I also believe they will attempt to have TWO different standards for DPS at the next contract talks........I mean beating. One standard for cased and one for "to the street" . Generally , carriers who do case DPS are on the street LESS time. Then I get to thinking again that it is the route being counted and not the carrier as well as the DPS has no idea if it is cased or not so why would it matter. Whatever the reason(s) , it ain't good !!

Nothing should be adjusted. Continually adjusting is exactly why they wanted it engineered.
This stuff is so petty. I have yet to see them measure the time it takes for a clerk to order something on Amazon between stamp sales. There is no way to have a perfect time standard but they could be realistic with the numbers and take the bad with the good. We will find out soon how fair it is.
