‘Unscanned’ option, what constitutes a ‘parcel?’

Well since I have had 0 training still on RRECS I am just using my best judgement. If it is thrown in my parcel hamper or is something that I can't case I count it as a parcel.

All of those giant non profit things, photos etc. These were typically counted in my last mail count as a parcel without a scan so it makes sense to me to use the unscanparcel entry.

Everything in the parcel bin, so those standard freebie stationary kits and stuff.. The shiny bank check envelopes, u line catalogs... They can't prove or disprove that you had unscanable packages because they're without barcodes! Don't overthink this. Get clever, get funky, and get loose with your scanning.. All of my pickups get a rrec pickup scan, and then an option H prepaid acceptance scan, too. Go nuts.

Rrecs hasn't changed definitions, only time standards ( unless specifically re-defined in writing and agreed by both parties )

see this is why myself and so many others are so confused and nervous about this new rrecs scan...this is our pay...and every forum answer, office. etc is doing something different...mgmt ,po,pm etc...unscan parcels is just ONE example of sooooooo many unanswered or RIGHT way ...every office shouldnt be different when it comes to these types of things when our pay is in these scans.do you all agree?

Not to mention, you won't know your number until you attempt all items. Some barcodes look ok but, won't record.
A new blip in the system yesterday - carrier scanned package and only menu option to come up was attempted or returned. The delivery option wasn't available for that parcel barcode. It wasn't an intercept.

Don't know if this is happened anywhere else. But I was scanning my ulines as unscanable packages. But now all the ulines in my area have gotten a lot thinner and are more like regular catalogs.

A follow-up question:. If you have to type in the barcode numbers, do you use "unscan parcel"? Or is there another activity scan for this situation?

13. Parcels
The time standards applied to parcels and the method in which parcels are identified and categorized are two of the major improvements in RRECS versus the current ECS. First, the time standards are more complete and accurate for the actual work involved in handing and delivering parcels.Second, the methods used to determine what is credited as a parcel and which category it falls into are very simple. All arguments over size, rigidity, contents, damage etc. are eliminated. First, we will discuss what qualifies as a "parcel" under RRECS. Simply put, any normal mail piece with a delivery bar code is credited as a parcel. There are some parcels remaining without a barcode, but the panel made allowances for those items, also.

The lack of specificity is what we're debating. "The pannel made allowances" doesn't define what an unscannable parcel is. Neither does (not) having a barcode. Essentially no one is arguing what a parcel is, only what an unscannable parcel is because the rrecs guide is vague.
I belive the definitions in ECS should be used until clarity is published in an MOU.

If a bundle of flats or single flats like please help! (Indian school) comes in parcel hamper, was it measured as a flat? Answer is no, if you don’t scan it as a un scan parcel, you are delivering it for free. I put 3 lll (lines) by the address so I know it came in the parcels. The only way to get credit for those flats if you don’t want to un scan parcel them is to take them back to the mis-sort case I was told. Because they were mis sorted to the spr hamper, or parcel hamper.
