Route cutting is ridiculous and stupid

Talking to friend of mine, and they are in office with 2 overburdened routes with hers being one of them.

They have an aux route 2 48K and 44K. So obviously 44K nothing is happening with it. 1 48k is all 1 zip. Other 48K is 2 zip small town & main office zip

So the idea of cutting the 2 routes was the following:

1 zip 48K would cut 60-65 boxes off end of route near the Aux route and be given to aux route. MAKES SENSE???? Right.

2 zip route (only cutting from main zip), they are about 70 boxes heavy package area & giving it to the 1 zip 48K

WHAT WORLD DOES THAT MAKE ANY !#@#ING SENSE?!?!!? I mean you have overburden route and taking from it and just adding back on to it with about same amount of boxes but more packages and miles?????

I knew this is / was / would be occurring once that MOU was agreed upon where the evaluation(s) are "frozen" for one year. So, of course they are going to cut a 48K to a 43K and "freeze" that 43K pay while they have added BACK the equivalent or more work. With this thread and all of the others regarding route "adjustments" on here, all of a sudden the PO is all gung ho regarding cutting routes. Why do you think that is ?

I want to know how the union is not in court right now stopping the cuts on any route due to the
Recession we are going into at best economical slump mail volume and packages are about to drop
if not plummet and that is going to drop all route evaluations. Unemployment is going to skyrocket where is the supposed union when they need to doing something?

It could make a lot of sense if volume and LOT will put it under 47k.

It won't. They are replacing him with same number of boxes, more miles (quite a bit more miles too), most likely more packages. Don't know exact number, but this subdivision is a younger area compared to area he is losing. He will be easily overburdened again 100%.

Why would they stop it? Contract states that the cuts must happen AND they filed a grievance on it in January when the PO said no cuts until after March 31. Hrs aren’t going to back out of the Step 4 grievance when so many severely overburdened routes wer crying for cuts.

If territory is added back to a route that is cut, anew Eval is required. It would take a grievance if it’s a growing route.

Update on the story...........

Both 48K are getting cut.

1st 48K losing 52 boxes and about 1 to 2 miles

Other route is losing 81 boxes and 6 miles.

I've told her to file or get union involved because somehow they are claiming these are the same losing 3 hours each. There ain't a chance in the world.

81 boxes is losing heavy heavy package area whereas other one isn't losing near that.

You got to understand when they input figures into interim worksheets it auto calculates an evaluation for both. Based on what they lost or gained. There’s a whole lot more numbers involved than just the miles and boxes being moved. They stem from the 4241A and M. From creep time, load times, volume factor, TCP points etc. specific to those routes involved.

So yes, looking at it from your perspective. It doesn’t look equal, but according to the interim worksheets, they are. As I stated in other posts when they do adjustments, the computer doesn’t know what areas you’re moving. Only the adjuster does when they resequence the edit books later. So you may be losing an area that has a high volume of parcels or mail it’s a luck of the draw. I was the route adjuster in my office so I know.

Luck of the draw in postal speak just means they left a loophole open somewhere that they can then use to SSSSCCCCCCRRRRRRREEEEEWWWWW
you over on whatever they are doing...😡

No loophole, thats just how adjustments work. They have two objectives hit target evaluations and square off areas as best they can. Once they hit that they move on to the next routes. Think clear, learn and know the process, it’s easy to get caught up in emotion.

Just remember, the union is pushing for these adjustments, the same ones you pay union dues too.

No loophole, thats just how adjustments work.🤠 Not in postal world it dont... They have two objectives🤠I agree, SCREW US OVER, AND YES , SCREW US OVER SOME MORE.hit target.🤠 WHERE ARE YOU FROM!??? Rural carriers are the target. evaluations and square off areas as best they can.🤠That's for sure, best they can, which is NOT VERY GOOD. Once they hit that they move on to the next routes.🤠 As soon as administratively possible you mean....right.

Just remember, the union is pushing for these adjustments🤠 Oh dont worry, we will remember, the union is for sure pushing us alright, RIGHT OUT OF A JOB...😡😡😡😡, the same ones you pay union dues too.🤠I paid for 21 years to those worthless Bastards, and what did I get for it.....SSSQQUUUAATTTTTTT.....FIRE THEM ALL. IMPRISON THEM FOR THEFT, AND CONFISCATE ALL THEIR ILL GOTTEN GAINS, AND DISTRIBUTE TO THE RURAL CARRIERS WHOSE LIVES THEY HAVE RUINED...

Here's the issue with this. They are claiming "both are 3 hours" and it is based on stops according to what they were told yesterday. Clearly someone is getting screwed.

52 boxes with 9 group stops losing 1 mile
81 boxes with 4 group stops losing 6 miles

Stop signs are literally about the same number. I think one has 4 and other 3. No other TCP or railroads or etc. They are literally same thing (subdivision area).

Also I ran both and 81 is way heavier for packages than the 52. It makes ABSOLTUELY NO SENSE.

Hello there, well without actually seeing their whole 4241 A&M it would be difficult to dissect. As I said earlier there’s a whole lot more numbers that are inputted and figured. It was like that in my office, Some routes were just higher in terms of their numbers so you grabbed a little from them and added it to a different route and it really boosted their route up.

I'm talking from experience running both of these routes. Based on that along it isn't even close time wise to do.

I'll bet money a year from now when these dumb cuts go into place.

The one that got less boxes take off with be closer to 45k which is their goal.

The other one will be 41k or maybe 42k.

I'm going on my experience doing these routes and what they are taking off isn't even close to same.

I sure hope union looks into this personally.

It really isn’t about how long it takes unfortunately.
