Show me the info, because that's 100% incorrect.You guys realize you only get credit for stuff that’s over two pounds. How does the PO know what’s over two pounds? A barcode.

I only ask because i pick up multiple packages on a semi frequent basis from a few customers - all of them have barcodes, none of them are over 2 pounds

If parcels under two pounds or other mail items are collected from the mailbox, DO NOT use the CARRIERPU function. Use the “H” Hotkey for Prepaid Acceptance Scans for all pieces with a barcode. If the piece has no barcode, no further action is necessary at the collection point.
This procedure is absolutely no different than it was in past mail counts. It just has to be remembered every day of the year.
Under RRECS, ALL collected mail (including parcels that have to be weighed and have postage affixed) is credited with actual handling time in the afternoon under the End of Shift Duties timed daily.

i've been under the impression for about a year now that H is an obsolete scan now that we can get credit under carrierPU, and i've never seen nor heard a single word of the 2 pound thing even since i started as an RCA
So if i'm scanning anything below 2 pounds into carrierPU, am i getting credit i'm technically not supposed to have? What about entering in parcels without barcodes into it? I do receive 1-2 a month or so, also being under 2 pounds... from the sound of this, the scanner even asking if what you're entering has a barcode sounds like it's a waste of time

BS. Our office is absolutely required to participate. We’ve signed in writing the last 4 years we DO NOT want to participate and to NOT request cards/bags, and each year PM requests the crap bags and cards and then forces us to deliver them. That IS NOT voluntary. Useless union DR even said they can make us deliver cards/bags because of postage. There are no volunteers to pickup food so we’re stuck doing it or face ridicule from customers on our local town FB page. And since I was born and raised in this town and married my high school sweetheart born and raised here too, I’m kin to or know most of them. So yes, I will absolutely scan anything I dang well please when FORCED to participate. Our City PTF is paid for every part of this drive, being paid hourly and taking her sweet damn time doing it, so the rurals in my office our going to get ours too. If they don’t like it, then they can finally STOP FORCING US.

Anytime a pick-up event happens that has the carrier DISMOUNT (note in mailbox to get parcels at door, pickup request with a barcode instructing to pickup at a location outside of vehicle, and/or an item that needs to be loaded to the rear of the vehicle), a CARRIERPU Scan should be used; regardless of weight. This could be a customer who sends out 50-100 small little packages that cannot fit in their mailbox but weight less than 2lbs each. [I have one such customer on my route with a tshirt company and they cannot always put in a pickup request].
Read the RRECS guide that spells out what the CARRIERPU Scan is assuming a carrier is doing. IF a carrier is doing that on the route - then they should have no issues using CARRIERPU Scan and defending themselves in a grievance.
The main thing CARRIERPU gives in credit is Dismount time.
If a small item is in the mailbox with the flag up and does not require a Dismount to accept; then yes, management can claim that using CARRIERPU is wrong in that instance because the carrier did not Dismount and should not be given a dismount credit through RRECS. < This is what was argued and why the Engineer's stated that the PO needed to give Carriers the CARRIERPU option for anything 2lbs or OVER in case they needed to load it into the back of the vehicle. This, however, does not change the fact that if a carrier DISMOUNTS to accept ANY POSTAL PRODUCT on the route they are to receive a CARRIERPU credit.

The information I quoted above was put out by David Heather on 4/18/2022 and posted in the eFyI as a clarification of the carrier pickup program.
H scan is for the customer to see the postal service is in receipt of the package. Do it when under EOS if management is requiring it. Has nothing to do with RRECS.
We’ve never been paid for parcels under two pounds that we collect.
