Mail Count 2019

I had the best idea on Saturday. This black Lab is a fetch-a-holic, and always drops his ball at my feet and waits for me to throw it. He has a collar on so I thought about slipping the scanner under it against his neck which would hold it there. After scanning at the door I was trying to slip it under his collar when the owner came out. I quickly threw the ball and it looked like that's all I was doing, but I can't wait until the owners are not home, those tracker people at the district offices will be saying, "Look, now he's running back and forth really fast, must be getting exercise or something. Yesterday he was running around in circles at 28 miles an hour. (When I was swinging it on a rope in circles)This guy is a nut". They will probably replace my scanner.

Grievty, grievty, grieve, grieve, grieve. "They" are only allowed to text us for emergencies, like the Ice Age is coming fast or you're fixing to be transported to Oz.

Let your committeman know too.
 
If they'd ever start texting me BS on the scammer, they better not have the camera activated, or they're likely to see me "waving" at them with just ONE finger...

There is that strap on the back of the scammer... I bet that would work well to attach to a dog's collar... hehe... might be fun...

Oh yes its just wonderful when you are trying to do 5 things at one time and you get text messages along with prompts for work orders on your scammer. Like 3 in a row, and of course its at a mailboxes that have a ton of flats and letters to scan.
 
Ok, fellow troops, got update on the Study recert and mapping, It originally was delayed as of last Friday, now yesterday it has been flat out cancelled. With no explanation, except the gps will not track in all terrains. WOW, imagine that.

I have a very "hilly" route, and I've always suspected that GPS uses a "flat" map that screws me on my route mileage... has anybody (NRLCA?) questioned this under RRECS????

How did they not know that? If that was the case wouldn't the original mapping sequence have had the same issue? This does not bode well for timely implementation! 4yrs and counting!
 
This is all utter BS , and we know it. This arbitrator needed a monetary penalty for implementation delays. Now seeing g this year’s later I hope that he sees that as disrespect to his binding arbitration and going forward on other issues lays a smack down.

I predicted this a while back... they're rearranging some stuff up on the shelf... maybe some room up there right beside "load leveling"... just another great idea that never quite took off, yeah buddy, another one bites the dust... go ahead and put "time study" up there on the shelf... it was a good idea, but just didn't quite work out...

This could be the fault of me and my friends. We've been slipping our scanners into tin foil bags for quite awhile now, and disappearing while on the route. It started when we knew we would be having driving observations, they couldn't find us unless we scanned something. We never really thought how this could backfire on us.

I'll go back to the question I asked earlier on this thread. Will your office just be dropped from the study, or will the whole study be scrapped? If they just drop the ones that can't comply by the April 1st deadline, they could still run the test to discover any other bugs in the system. If I had to bet money, I'd say the whole thing will be delayed again with no deadline given.

Rt. 2 Mailman, your Doritos bag is not the cause of this problem. The scanners have been unable to deal with changes in altitude all along. I remember a discussion about using the scanners to measure routes instead of a vehicle with a calibrated odometer. I took issue with this idea back then because I am in the mountains. I would have stood to lose mileage with that system. We also have a lot of cellular dead zones around here, so RRECS would probably not work here for that reason as well. No cellular telemetry for the scanners to know where they are.

Hey, It didn't backfire on you or anyone, This is a non thought out process that they thought would come to pass to privatize the postal service. To get rid of "Us". we cost them to much money per say. They want the union gone, they want to tell us how to deliver mail when they have no clue on God's Green Earth on how to even begin. I have seen crap like this coming for the past 5 years. It's sad that I used to be proud of my job and would recommend and help anyone get a job with the postal service. NOT NOW, I tell them to run. Just to much to type about all of this crap. What they have put us through for the past years, trying to "lean" management. Guess it's not working out to well for them, but in the mean time they are trying to nail us to the "box". If it was not for us, they would be greeters at Walmart.

Yes Rt. 2 Mailman, absolutely not. I have put foil around mine etc. I left it on top of the car tied to the antenna. I took it in the bathroom with me when I was on a 1 min break, hope they got that picture. They knew all of this wasn't going to work, it's the worse case of "stupid" I have ever seen. Ok back to the Study, I have no idea, if we will be dropped. I really dont see how they can drop anybody with out disrupting the whole shebang. I truly believe this study will go BYE BYE, I guess they thought it would be a good thing, like their proto type robots they are playing with, and their Drone delivery system.
Yes "Blame the Sub" LOL I never blamed mine for anything. because I was one for 10 years, But what you are saying I believe will come to pass, they will just keep coming up with lame excuses to try to justify their uneducated theory, but in the meantime we will be in limbo, and keep on doing this crazy crap, and deal with the complaints from customers etc . that they don't have to hear, because of their "new found technology" that will make things better in time., But we are the ones that will be held accountable for the complaints for who knows how long. I've said this many times. Until the USPS has RRECS implemented on all routes in the country carriers should be allowed to stay with the current system, elect hourly pay or elect to be paid like at Christmas time with either aux help or OT pay for weekly hours over their eval. Another idea would be to tweak the count system with information gathered by the RRECS study and count routes with an interim count until RRECS is finished. I have no confidence that RRECS will be implemented anytime soon (that's why I retired) so the assoc needs to do something to PROTECT their members. This new system seems to be delayed at every turn and there are a lot of carriers being hurt by the old system. It doesn't work for all. A new contract with some of these provisions would make things bearable and fair for all.
 
Rural Route Evaluated Compensation System ??? Not sure... just a guess here... :whistle:

I like to refer to it as the new wrecked pay system... but it would be nice to come up with a really good alternative on RRECS... Raunchy Rotten Everybody Can't Survive... yeah, I dunno... :unsure:
