NALC and USPS reach tentative agreement

Ask the usps why they’re trying to put the city side on our rrecs evaluated pay system and not be hourly any longer.
It’s a win win for the employer and employee.
The OIG did a study about 10 years ago detailing how the evaluated system saved the post office millions.
and 20 years and 30 years ago

When you can’t strike you have no leverage and you get crappy contracts. Its really just that simple.

Yep. I mean I wasn't expecting a huge thing for city carriers, but if I was them and this was all I got after 500 days of no contract, I would be :mad::mad::mad::mad:.

I would have expected a little bit more of a raise (maybe pushing 5-7%) with them holding out as long as they did.

Yes . Unfortunate. But we knowingly took a job in a government agency where strike is illegal. Very hard to skirt that . We need to strengthen the union in real sense as much as in your power . Maybe we can get something. Or we can choose to blame union and punish them financially not paying dues to make them weak . And weak union will yield even weaker result . And last choice is simply walk away from this job and find some other employment. Choices are very limited. It’s that simple unfortunately

You wouldn't receive less pay. You would simply need to be there like city. Jobs wouldn't be lost.

It's a change in perspective.
Yes . Going home early if you are done will be thing of the past . Management will be always on your a…s . Even some people loosing job is real possibility. Because it is hard for me to believe how you drag a 22 hr job beyond 42 hr ! And that constant presence of management micromanaging you will definitely make this job worthless to me

You are correct.
Just know that in the past mostly table 1 carriers, who’ve been around longer, are typically the ones who vote more and they voted for creating table 2 so their own table 1 wages could go up. It’s the boomer-show-me-the-money vote and sell the young people down the river mentality that got us to where we are now.
I always vote NO on every contract because they’ve all been a joke as long as I’ve been here.
RCA’s and cca’s should be making no less than $25, and anyone who votes for any contract like this with 0.50 cents for subs is a complete idiot.
As a table 1 carrier, I find your comment about wanting more pay for myself therefore making less for you kinda gross. Not the case. I don't agree with 2 tiers of pay AT ALL. Look at all the resentment and not paying RCAs a decent wage has led to a terrible shortage and quality of life issues for all. Remember, no more raises for me after 12 years. Only COLAs and contractual increases. I paid my dues. Almost 9 years as an RCA an 15 as a regular.

Perspective: myself or the craft as a whole.

That is why the rurals can't gain traction. Those being harmed are ignored because the few doing well don't want to have solidarity.

It's up to current carriers to decide whether they wish to pull together for gain.

There's no reason to get offended.

I simply question why an employer would pay an employee for unworked hours? What is in it for the employer? What are they getting?

Then ask yourself if What they are getting is worth the cost.
It's worth the cost. I wouldn't work at my pace for anything less.

Partly true. Half the carriers would be have to be excessed though.

I always heard things like that.... but what does it mean??? Has it ever happened, and if so, what was done, and when was that???? I don't remember it.... I recall in 2006, carriers "pulled together" and voted down that contract.... but it really didn't gain us much... the "union" criticized the members for voting it down, and after a further delay on raises and such, we ended up with basically the same thing that was voted down.... how do peeps "pull together for gain"???? Or is that just some slogan???? 🤷‍♂️👉🧐

I always thought that as well.... what have Table 1ers gotten since 2012 when Table 2 was introduced???? Had there been no Table 2, then we could've been talking about improvements for Table 1ers.... but since 2012, discussions about Table 2 have sucked up most of the oxygen.... having Table 2 has always been about getting rid of Table 1ers.... so that's not a good thing for Table 1ers either... having Table 2 has not helped Table 1ers at all as far as I can tell.... 🤷‍♂️👉🧐

I earned my position like everyone else and I'm going to keep it as long as I want. Less than 10,000 people voted on our last contract.. that's pretty pathetic for people who want change. I'd be happy if they would just pay RCAs a REAL wage so we can retain what we have and attract more quality people. Some offices don't supply cars and $20/ hour isn't realistic.

That is one of the biggest degradations to the job that I saw.... when I first started, all Regs had their own subs, and could get off whenever they wanted.... with little or no notice.... it was basically taken for granted 20 years ago or so.... that really has changed for the worse.... and has a huge impact on everyone.... 🤷‍♂️👉🧐

Amen, after that, the ballots had to be perfect to be counted. :( always voted no, usually as a statement, knowing it would come back from an arbitraitor imposed on us anyways, was a union member to the end... i paid to get in, i paid for the right to bitch... so here i am ,,, old/sore and seeing the same crap over and over, like a bad movie that only popcorn will fix

I don’t know if you voted yes or no on the last contract, but it included only 1% per year raises for RCA’s.
That’s ‘gross’ to me, so I voted no. There are plenty of table 1 carriers who got huge raises with the last contract who voted yes selfishly.
I’m not sure what the point of your posting was, but you should realize a lot of ‘gross’ things happen here and I’m just trying to point them out. You can ignore them and pretend they don’t exist, that’s up to you.

That’s nice but I didn’t see you posting 10% anywhere…
Moving on, I think this contract will actually pass because of the Huge number of step A carriers.
Unfortunately…
Sorry, I think I'm missing something here????? Table 2 doesn't have steps A, B and C. they start at step 1.
