Spm agreement

Oh yeah...Thrown under the bus again by idiots at union.   For those who did keep a record they will pay you....Oh, but....Not at the 50 seconds in the first agreement but at the new 35 second rate.   WTF. We performed the duty at an agreed rate and our fine union just threw 15 seconds each as a windfall to management.

<blockquote class="spPostEmbedQuote"><strong>MrMagoo said </strong>

... DB the reason we are doing these are because the Rural Craft will do them for free for a period of time and then for a pittance after a lengthy dely.

The SPM is an innovation, I hesitate to use that word for anything the USPS does, the Rural Craft doing this function has essentially eliminated the need for an entire department in each district that did what were called OTIS Tests. This department had a Manager, (6 figures per year?) and a staff of worker bees ( 60K a year ?) with Government vehicles and the latest IT / Laptops and scales. The OTIS Test measured <strong>the time it took a piece of mail to get from point A to point B, thus assessing reliability of our products. </strong>

So 50 seconds was a bargain for the USPS 35 seconds is a steal.
</blockquote>
When they have a <strong>*picture*</strong> of every single piece of DPS that I deliver each day, it just seems silly to me that my scanning it at the box gives them any additional info... if it's in my DPS that day, then it's a safe assumption that it is delivered that day, so thereby they already know "<strong>the time it took a piece of mail to get from point A to point B, thus assessing reliability of our products."</strong>

When it comes to parcels or any other scan-able items, they already have that also... so really the only items they may not have are flats...and they probably have that too...  <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

Btw, I still see ODIS (OTIS?) people showing up, so apparently they're still in business...

SPM scan has been alerting me several consecutive days now at a certain address.  However, at this address, the mail is on hold and will be for a while.  So I'll gladly take the 50/35 cents as I drive passed the address and scan at the next stop ALREADY PASSED.  <img title="Laugh" alt="Laugh" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif" />

I really don't think they could have been much more effective in jerking us around on these things... they started out hammering us with NUMEROUS SPMs while not paying us ANYTHING for them... then when they FINALLY started paying us for them, they slowed to a trickle... then they quit paying us again, and started cranking them back up....  will they slow again when they start paying them again???

As far as I can tell, they've tried to make them as big of a PITA as they could... made it difficult for us to get paid for them... I guess it's true, you get what you pay for... also, you reap what you sow... <span style="color: #ff0000">sow PITA</span>... <span style="color: #0000ff">reap PITA</span>.... <strong>ALREADY PASSED.... <img title="Cool" alt="Cool" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-cool.gif" /></strong>

Used to be able to say already passed....now when it asks "is this for 123 maple" and i enter no...it goes back to regular screen without chance to enter explanation....look for the "work order" but no longer have that function either...?

When did that start???  <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

I KNOW I had some "ALREADY PASSED" entries this past week...  <img title="Cool" alt="Cool" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-cool.gif" />

Mine asks "Is this address on your route today?"  to which I answer "Yes"... and then I scan 0, and it asks "No more to scan?" or "Already Passed?"... to which I select "Already Passed"....

I supposed if I answered "NO" to "Is this address on your route today?", then it might all just go away... so far, I've never done that tho...

That does make me wonder if we're supposed to answer "NO" for addresses on hold, as BoSox was talking about???  <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />

I've been marking these down for months, writing A or D on 4240 comments.  I haven't been paid yet.  Is it's management's responsibility to go back and figure it out to be back paid, or mine?  How long do they keep 4240s on file?

@DB.....mine asks "is this delivery for 123 maple street" to wit i answer yes..and do the magic tricks it wants..or no if i have either passed it or it on opposite side of road...then it goes back to barcode scan screen. This started after scanner software upgrade 2 weeks ago....when the new opitions i.e. package look ahead+yadayadayada were loaded.

No longer displays work order opition that i can find.

Funny....since i routinely read the forum i was only one that noticed(and looked for and use) the new features..even "new" OIC was unaware..ignorance is bliss in my office...but then so is laziness and stupidity.....

Unless it changed this weekend. The work order option doesn't appear unless you create one ( Esc). To your previous post. If you say yes to the address being on route, then you get the three options, as stated by other posters.

Hadn't changed as of Saturday. Workorder option is only present when a carrier ESC out of the notification. I can't recall the last time I had an address that wasn't on my route. It would be nice to see an option of 'on hold' when the mail is left at the office.

I'm not carrying the Union's water on this one, so don't blast me DB Cooper,

BUT

I have to wonder if this agreement wasn't reached because this is the standard that the Engineering Study came up with.

Remember, months ago The NRLCA President said all the time standards are completed.

This could be an ominous preview of what is to come.

How long do they keep 4240s on file?     i think it is at least 10 years,  maybe longer..

to get to the all ready passed address option, you have to answer yes to the is the address on your route today.

to recover work orders. hit esc, from the scan screen, back to where you hit enter for scan items, then hit the arrow up key, it will be the first or second option on the screen that appears.  just arrow up again if not highlighted, and when work orders appear, hit enter

well thanks for info......i guess my ignorance was bliss as well....i shall try it tomorrow and follow the above stated directions from those that know.....

Not to worry Mr Magoo... I'm trying to be kinder and gentler in my old(er) age... even when attacked I'm trying to stay "on topic"... insulting each other gets us nowhere, imo...

Here's my "in a nutshell" theory about the "time study" ... PostPlan was the dagger used to kill many small PO PM's, the 2010-2015 Contract slashed the pay of all workers hired after 2010 (to the tune of about 25%)... the "old-timers" have been protected, somewhat, from the bloodbaths so far... until now... until the time study... this is our dagger, PostPlan, 2010-2015 Contract, all rolled into one... jmho... those that can jump, will, after they see this "time study"... and that's what the USPS wants... get rid of those old, fat, overpaid, slow, Step 12 Carriers, and replace them with folks who will work for half the $$$ pay... hope I'm wrong, and all of the other "old timers" had better hope so as well...  <img title="Laugh" alt="Laugh" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif" />

I find it hard to believe someone is going to go back through the 4240's and count the scans we had and back pay us.  </blockquote>
They have a report that shows what houses are suppose to have SPM scans daily and this should be able to be pushed down to see which routes get these scans.  It is all saved.

Depending on the office.  The retention period for 4240s are officially 6 years.  Some offices have 20 plus years worth.

I fear that this is the case too DB.  It is a sad state that RC's are in now.  Hope you do not have too much more time left.

So is it any different than what was posted here at RI about a week ago???  <img title="Confused" alt="Confused" src="https://www.ruralmailtalk.ruralinfo.net/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-smileys/sf-confused.gif" />
