They say you have to buy a union membership..

So then, would a 100% dues paying membership help achieve this?
I understand getting the dues to help further the cause.
It does seem silly that people would stop paying dues to the one and only organization that is able to stand up for them and negotiate their wages with the employer.

Why do people refuse to give their dues to help the cause?
In my opinion people don't feel connected. They don't see their individual support as an important piece of the organization.
Each of us walk into a PO everyday to do our job, if the union isn't a part of the everyday it gets lost.
I work with a retired teamster.. He is a city carrier. He told me the teamsters union was ever present. Their business manager would frequently pop into their workplace. They had local meeting places where the union constantly instilled the goals.
They were able to build solidarity.
I want that. I do not want our union to be on a shelf separate from me. I want inclusion not exclusion.
Stop hiding knowledge ad information and creating an us vs them within the craft.
Somebody in each office has to be willing to “step up” & represent. Too many carriers don’t want to be the one, they want it done for them.
 
Isn't that some crap? Pay us 1000 a year if you want to learn how to do your job. lol

The thing is, if they keep that mind set. their evaluation will never go up. The pay system is figured from 52 weeks of past work. We will always be building the next evaluation in the present moment.
I get that and understand that, getting these individuals to comprehend that is another thing. Also the biggest reason I just hope aux goes to a full route, and I end up with it. it Truly is interesting times for rural craft.
 
When this change kicks in your evaluation is going to be based on the last 12 month (or 6)? Either way if the Union was worth its salt this info would have been posted long ago.

How about if the union had managed to get RRECs done last June with 2 years data? (2020-2022)

Not sure about the rest of the USA, but the last 6 or 12 months have not been in the same ballpark.

Seriously, does anyone really plan on watching this webinar thing? If so, do you believe you'll gain info that will help you out? I have an image of an old SCTV show sketch....

You know… I’m a hitchhiker for about 2 years now. Was a good ole boy for 26 years. Saw behind the curtain from a good spot and realized… my mental health worth way more. I’m still called constantly because the area doesn’t act. But for all non members… 3way calling a beautiful invention

I can understand how you feel.. Time and observation have given me a different perspective.
I am fine with the hitch hikers.
Why should they pay to be poorly represented, even totally ignored?

The folks at National are a huge disappointment, not worth the freight.
 
I went to count school every year.
I learned things that improved my evaluation every year.

Other union members wanted me to go to count school, then have them over and teach them everything I learned.
Uh, no thank you. Just go to count school, raise your hand, and ask questions. I'm NOT your Mom. (If I were, you'd be able to wipe your own behind.)

Also, I seem to remember some count schools where non-members could attend for a flat fee.

It is the USPS's responsibility to train us. I always found it to be advantageous to discover what they weren't telling us.
 
How about not getting fired just because mgmt gets pissed off. One guy in my office was fired 4 times & got his job back 3 of those times thanks to the Union. That includes the Discipline in between. 🤦🏼‍♀️
I don't call that a benefit. It's more like extortion. I too was fired and rehired and I d/won't pay union a dime.

It is if you don’t want or can’t get a job elsewhere (this was during & pre-COVID).
Any other employer would just fire you & there’s no going back & NO paycheck.
Here… Once you file that grievance then that route/position is on hold until remedied.

I can see getting fired once and it being a fluke. Maybe even twice if the PM is a test tube Nazi.

Four times makes it seem like either the guy is trying to get fired .... or maybe he's not a great employee?

I bet he wears black socks and doesn't wash his hair.

The 2nd one is correct. Always trying to find an out to get done early. Got away with a lot pre-GPS & scanning.

You can’t fix stupid.
