• Everyone, please help make our jobs easier and choose the correct category. Thank you

They say you have to buy a union membership..

This is no different that any other Union sanctioned Pre-Count meeting. It’s on mgmt to teach Carriers, not the Union.

My main issue is that the UNION should say SOMEONE SHOULD TEACH OTHER PEOPLE THEN (management or whoever) OR TAKE IT UPON THEMSELVES TO TEACH EVERYONE.

They teach everyone and GUESS WHAT????? Maybe some people will join. That's my main thing. Only teaching some people isn't right.

While I understand that is how it is done, it does not mean I have to agree with it. My limited experience with other unions was vastly different then this one. Every single thing that could possibly influence pay work etc was handled by the union. That included proper training on anything or any part of the job.

imo a better way to get membership would be to have in house or local/area reps. Put a notice on boards advertising the training. At the training after It is done ask if anyone would like to join. Not before the training or demand they join or leave. It just leaves a bad taste in anyones mouth doing it the way it is done.

Ya well go work for Amazon and see what no union brings you. I do fell for you on a heavy Amazon route. We need to change things. Get involved
I wouldn't work for Amazon. You get what you pay for, and for Amazon that's the bottom of the barrel. It's like working for Walmart. Really happy and motivated people there I tell ya. No one will do what we do in the time we do it if they paid you a Walmart wage.

You have the exact same feeling as I do.

Training some isn't right. If the union stepped in and offer training for all (based on that this is for everyone and not just some people) I would consider joining because they reached out and they did what they should do.

This isn't right and I just don't like it. This affects everyone and we only care about a few. I hope some union people bid on non-union member route who didn't get properly trained.

Lyra et al -- "They say you have to buy a union membership..[ to get RRECS training ].

-- Keep moving - nothing new to see here.

-- Back in the days of real mail counts, one had to be a union member to attend.

-- And they had a table set up at the door with the current membership list and forms to sign you up.

-- Why isn't the USPS providing training? After all they helped create RRECS, so they should be well versed in its in and outs. ( yeah, right! )

No union rep in office nor know how to. If she told me then I would have.

Again I am not saying the union should be teaching, BUT SOMEONE SHOULD TEACH THE NON-MEMBERS.

Example: everyone works in plant. You get taught everything and do it right. I come in not taught and suck. but yet we get paid the same? Is that fair?
Nrlca has a video on YouTube with D Heather on survey. Mostly the same as when originally posted.

I guess since I am not a member of the UN UNION. I will start just hitting random buttons all day long and see what happens. I guess I can make my route like 75K with button mashing,

Then claim I wasn't properly trained to do this so I don't know what I am doing.
I am certain you are aware hitting random buttons is only going to get only you into trouble. Why not write so that the few that agree with you will be able to support you.

I agree that this separate but equal training is not equal. Because the NRLCA has done this in the past does not make it acceptable then or now. It is an obvious attempt to force people to join the Union by the Postal Service and the Union. It had been many years since I have read anything about this but I think the National Labor Relations Board may not agree with the decision.

If you pay the onion $1000 will you get an answer to "what happened to the data base they were creating so carriers could verify their weekly data."?

Or For $1000 is all you are entitled to is answers like:
We don't know yet
We will have to look into that
There is a lot we don't know yet
and
We have never even considered doing away with the evaluated system

Or will you even be allowed to ask a question?

Union or not just remember so called training? if it's like the info given out when this all started then just remember use your common sence over all. Our union doesn't know ay true answers, the still don't understand rrec 99 pg handbook. In my opinion it won't matter anyway isnt like we have anything to compare it to anyway. This whole process is nothing like traditional go grab my sticky note to show what I had for a certain day is all over. Even if you could prove something isn't right how who is going to fix it? Heck I'm sill on a so called list to get my mapping finished, that the union has me on as well? All this tells me is it's gonna be whatever they say doesn't matter what we know or say. I'm just putting it in God's hands and praying I can still pay some bills every 6 months until I get out of this place.

My initial response is that a bunch of us already DO work for Amazon, and this is why our view of the union is so abysmal. The union has done nothing for 5 YEARS while we deliver Amazon for free. On many routes, that's 100% of the Amazon.

So, its a vicious circle/cycle. People resent and leave the union for its non-representation. In turn, the union loses out on dues and people to try to change things. NRLCA is now so small USPS pays no attention to it.

As to whether all should be able to attend these seminars, I don't mind that the union limits it to members. I really don't feel like there would be any substantial value in them. You pay attention and educate yourself here on RRECs, you likely know more that already than what you'd pick up.

I guess I should have put it in different font color for being sarcastic.

I am in the union and I don't see any zoom meeting available on that list for anyone in the northeast. I am in New Hampshire and we don't exist on this list or am I missing something? Alot of union dues being paid up here and we hear and see nothing from our union.

Here's my issue.

Now I have NO ISSUE with union doing things for union members only such as Retirement seminar, healthy living, whatever other classes they want to offer and so on. That is beyond fair and what people pay dues for.

But here is a BRAND NEW PAY SYSTEM FOR EVERYONE, yet we are going to limit who can learn about it. Route bidding is going to change. You are going to have to worry is that route only doing the 6 sacred scans or are they doing more???? Because let say a route is only doing the 6 scans, and nothing else. It is H route, but you know there are ton of scans person isn't doing and it should be a J or K. EVERYONE SHOULD BE EDUCATED ON THEIR PAY!!! It's not fair to educate some and leave others out there not knowing what to do or how to maximize their pay with the new system.

That's my issue. The union COULD HAVE DONE THE RIGHT THING and trained everyone, AND QUITE POSSIBLY MAYBE GOT NEW MEMBERS TO JOIN (I honestly would have joined if the union came out and said this), but instead they do this, which leaves bad taste for many people.

You would think with all the free time we have taken to read the rrecs guides, educate ourselves online , research our pay that people who are not part of the union would have this right . I think if we are union or not we have given enough of our free time to this company to just be paid fair. If anything they owe every carrier money not we owe them to see how to be trained.

Again… it is not the Union’s responsibility to train carriers. The zoom survey meetings are not training sessions but just more in-depth information.
Any carrier can request or look up the manuals that govern our Craft without joining the Union. If you want access to more then you have to pay dues. Just my opinion.
