Back pay

So, just a few if the things which go into figuring each of the 160000 rural employees covered under this back pay.
1) every pay period is handled separately per employee.
2) pay steps or changes must be factored.
3) all OT must be calculated and confirmed by an individual per pay period.
4) many mou's were in play during this time frame for regulars to assist.
5) all 8127 payments must be readjusted.
6) all route evaluation changes or new route bids must be corrected for pay.
7) all grievance settlements for mandated work must be recalculated if not a flat fee payment.
8) all retired carriers from this time frame need adjustment.
9) all tsp contributions and match must be adjusted .
10) taxes must be adjusted.
11) the easiest process is paying 1234 time for rcas.
And a few more items per employee affected during this time frame. Including fired, resigned and retired personnel.
This never dawned on me.....when they taked about the "complexities of the rural carrier pay system".... I didn't think about these things like matching contributions and 8127's at all. Glad its someone else's headache and not mine. Still and yet....I would like to see the salary adjustment happen immediately. The back pay sounds like a real mess.

MiddleOfNowhere et al -- "since they always end up in this situation with figuring out the backpay with colas, wouldn't it be simpler just to give us the colas even with expired contracts. "

-- That certainly could be part of the next contract -- IF the NRLCA negotiation team thought to include it with their other "demands".

-- If you remember the 2010 - 2015 contract, it had a scheduled mail count for 2016 ( March 12 - 25 ), even though the contract expired 20 MAY 2015.

-- THAT ended the NRLCA mantra of NO CONTRACT, NO COUNT.

Does anyone know HOW to figure out what the backpay will be? A formula? If no changes in pay had occurred(steps etc).

" However, due to the complexities of the rural carrier salary structure, programming the payroll system that is required to make these changes will likely take another month or two to complete. In addition, the APWU ratified their contract only a few weeks before NRLCA, so the Postal Service is also in the process of finalizing updated pay raises for their bargaining unit members.

Once payroll programming is completed, the new salary schedules will become effective and retroactive payments will be made to all affected employees. The dates of these payments will be announced ASAP when we receive that information. Please continue to check the NRLCA website for the latest information."
Is this the first contractual raise we have ever gotten? The payroll system is already in place, all you have to do is plug in the new salary chart. You know, the one they published BEFORE we even voted on the new contract. You would think this is 1925 where a room full of people sitting at tables with pencils and notebooks were doing it one carrier sat at time!

Interesting and good stuff to know. I was thinking about this today on the route. We have computers to make it easier in this day and age. What the heck did they do before that.

So the APWU just released an update on their back pay. New salaries go into effect June 4 2022, with back pay to be paid “later this year” due to the lengthy process of calculating the back pay. Our contract was ratified a month after theirs so maybe new salaries into affect Julyish and back pay sometime in the next couple years!

They’ll probably wait until the next cola comes out so they only have to do it once

August 5? Holy poop. Im hurting due to being a table 2 with no COLA for over a year. The highest inflstion period I've ever seen.

Does the backpay hit then? Or is that going to be Christmas 2025 if we sign the next new poopy contract?
