K day

They definitely conveniently forgot. Please enlighten me on what I missed out on. 😔
9.2.C.5.d(1) NRLCA joint contract

The following actions will occur in the order
presented until the required number of K
routes with relief days other than Saturday is
reached:

(1) Any regular rural carrier assigned to a K
route with a Saturday relief day may elect to
permanently change the relief day to another day (including Friday/Saturday rotating),
provided the new relief day will assist in
reaching the required number of routes with
relief days other than Saturday.

Any rural carrier that selects Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday as the relief day will be given the incentive of allowing the route’s evaluation to increase to 53:00 to 55:00 standard hours through normal growth and maintain such evaluation for the duration the rural carrier is assigned that route and that relief day. The Employer will adjust these routes down to 53:00 to 55:00 standard hours when adjustments are necessary. However, adjustments may be made below 53:00 to 55:00 standard hours consistent with contractual provisions and applicable regulations. Bids for posted routes with Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday relief days and residual vacancies with Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday relief days awarded to part-time flexible rural carriers, substitutes, or rural carrier associates, will not result in the above incentives.

@gotstamps Thanks !!! I am pretty clueless when it comes to formula offices. I mean , I can read what is in the contract and comprehend it and all that but I have ZERO experience , first hand or otherwise, with formula offices.

The last paragraph ^^^^ does not apply to formula forced reassignment of relief day. It only pertains to reg that requests to move from Saturday to Tue, Wed or Thu.
Precisely, but management seems to forget this part of the contract and go directly to the next part.

One could possibly grieve if this option wasn't given first and be given the option granted in the contract. Even if it's already too late.

So when subs are gained or lost, then the relief days can change, besides Saturday or not Saturday? And is it only because of loss of Saturday that relief days are allowed to shuffle? Sorry for being pedantic but this feels either nebulous or terribly one-sided.

So when the employer invoked the formula, there was only negative to carriers and none for management, even though it was management’s failure that led to formula and denied a supposed principle of the rura craft, relief per route? Yet, no recompense for the negatively affected carriers.
Mgmt can only be required to ADD Saturdays, not remove them. Mgmt decides the weekdays to offer when removing Saturdays. It is suggested in the Implementation Guidelines that mgmt try to keep an equal level of Relief Days across the weekdays.

The ONLY thing that will ā€forceā€ mgmt to change ANY Weekday Reliefs is when Saturdays are being removed and a weekday suddenly were to have more Relief than Saturday. Then mgmt would be required to remove enough Relief from that offending day to place on another until all weekdays have less than Saturday.
