Back pay

Gotrope et al -- Thanx for pointing out some of what Eagan has to do (probably with just pencil and paper).

-- If Eagan is anything like the IRS, Eagan is probably also working on recalculating some 2240 issues.

-- Reopening the Dead Horse Department of Going Hourly:

- Since the NRLCA has admitted to the "complexities" of the rural pay system, IMHO, going hourly would / could reduce the need for some of the "scans" or worry about the 120+ new "standards".

- Log in, Log out, 2 more for breaks or lunch - if taken, 2 more for any stand-ups and or safety talks - if given.

-- Sure, carriers would lose the "built-in" OT, but an Overtime Desired List, such as on the city side, could take its place.

-- With all of the "how does RRECS account for this or that" inquiries, that should prove that the engineers nor RRECS have addressed everything rural carriers do.

-- I know -- overly simplistic, especially for someone on the "outside".

Is it less complicated to figure out APWU or NALC workers retro payments or new salaries? Anyone know the time frames for either when their contracts are settled and they get paid?
I have dealt with eagon more times than I can remember. Yes, an hourly employee is much easier to backpay. Total hours per pay period plus extra applied to hours.
I couldn't agree more a preferred upon penalty should have been included. This is at least a 6 contracts in a row the pay has been a delay problem. Enough. At least be able to make pay current.

...80's and early 90's: they went by hours,, for rcr's, rca's and regs... fair for the time but not now, i think,,,,
less than 500 hours, no soup for you, sorry... 500 - 1000 hours $500,, 1000 - 1500 hours $750.,, 1501+ $1,000... these numbers aren 't exact, covid fog, sorry

The backpay is understandable.
The delay in making our pay current is inexcusable. To my knowledge it has never happened. Pay charts are posted. Can't input?
110% in agreement, making our pay accurate ASAP would have eliminated all future adjustments as noted on the above post for all that wait time since the contract was signed. I can wait whatever time it takes to get my Back Pay, just make my current pay accurate.

since they always end up in this situation with figuring out the backpay with colas, wouldn't it be simpler just to give us the colas even with expired contracts. i know the city carriers at one time had that clause in their contract, that colas would continue even if contract was expired. it would also increase any raise that was given as a percentage when new negotiations where taking place.

it could help close the salary gap over time.

The complexities?
THE COMPLEXITIES!?!!!

It’s the same thing as every other raise we’ve ever received! Every year we get a 1 or 1.5% raise.
Twice a year we get a cola!
Why is it more complex this time?!!

The union needs to stop making excuses for the post office.

The union does not work for the post office, THEY WORK FOR US!
Since when?

They only work for themselves...line their pockets first and foremost.

NO, THEY REALLY DON'T.

Great! So now I'll get about about 3 whole months of my proper 46K salary before the RRECS evals kick in and I'm reduced to a 40K or whatever. If they keep these delays going I might not see that salary at all. Thanks union!
You forgot to include the next COLA in July which we will most likely get credited for before all this old business has been straightened out just to make things interesting.;):LOL:

Why did the Association not pay attention to the Clerk negations and settlement of set dates for pay out?

I bet the City will have payback dates mentioned in their contract offer.

As previously announced, the pay provisions of the agreement are being programmed and will begin to be paid in pay period 13 which starts on June 4, 2022 and show on the paychecks received on June 24, 2022. This would include the 1.3% due to career employees from November 2021, the 2.3% due to Postal Support Employees (PSEs) from November 2021, the $1310 per annum COLA due to career employees on February 26, 2022, extra pay for PTFs due to the Juneteenth holiday, and the additional 50 cents per hour for PSEs. Beginning pay period 14, starting on June 18, 2022, the slotting of the additional steps and elimination of steps for Grade 8 employees will begin as well. Of course, once that is all in place the Postal Service will be able to provide the date of the retro-active pay that will be owed the employees. It is important to note that the retroactive pay will take time to calculate and will be paid later in the year.

We won't be seeing our backpay til after Xmas. SMH, more than a year and a half after the expiration of our contract. Of course no interest on these monies. On my anniversary date, I'm leaving the union. Every contract it is the same issues regarding backpay and the nrlca rolls over.
I fail to understand why our salary increase can't be effective immediately. That is not rocket science.
